Chapter 8: I'm not giving up without a fight!

I was sitting in the back of the class counting the minutes go by as I wished and hoped I could just fast forward time and leave already. After what seemed like hours I was finally set free from that jail you would call a class room. Believe me when i say I was the first one out the door.

I couldn't take it that rumor was spreading faster then the last one. I ran outside to the football field bleachers and decided to skip my next class. I just sat there feeling sorry for myself, I hated it! Before I could reconsider this skipping option I was blind sited and heard a familiar voice go "Guess who?"

I turned around to see the boy who's practically ruining my life.

Darwin.

I immediately punched him in the arm and said "What are you doing here? Are you stalking me?!" There was no possible way that he is just showing up at these places he has to be stalking me.

He held his arm in the area I hit him in and said "Owe! I just so happened to be finished with this period which is football and saw you sitting out here geez."

I felt bad after he said that but could you blame me for being mad?

"I'm sorry. I'm just having a bad day." I said apologizing. 

"Awe its ok babe I forgive you." He says wrapping his arms around me like im his girlfriend or something.

"Ugh get off see this is what I mean!" I decide to fill him in on what happened.

Jackson pov.

I could hear everybody talking and whispering and it was all about one thing. Marissa and Darwin, I skipped my last class with Marissa I couldn't be trapped in the room with her at the moment because I knew it was true i just chose not to believe it. Believing those two were together hurt, because I really do like Marissa, A lot. She was so beautiful, sweet and down to earth.

I went to my next period which was gym. We were going to play basketball but coach asked me to go get the basketballs from the football field. I went out still completely lost but found my way around when I over heard a familiar voice.

"And that's why I've been so stressed out" the girl voice says

"Awe but baby why cant we let our love be known" the more manly voice said in a playful tone.

"Ughh! Stop! We are not in love we are not dating I just need you to stop so these rumors will go away!" The girl voice says.

I look in between the seats of the bleachers I was hiding under and see its Marissa and Darwin. Hmmm looks like I need to have a talk with my brother Darwin.

It was the end of the day and I asked Darwin to meet me at the back of the school cafeteria. He finally showed up and told me

"Hey dude. Whats up? I can't talk for very long I gotta go check on something in 10 mins, so can we make this quick?"

I kept my straight face and said "So I heard a rumor that you kissed Marissa. Is it true?" I said plainly.

He looked at me for a second then said "Maybe, but tell me what kind of relationship do you have with Marissa?" He said kind of jokingly.

I crossed my arms and said "Look I'm the one asking the questions here."

He shrugged his shoulders and said in the most playful tone "Well then I'm the one not answering" he smiled and it got me so pissed off that hes not taking this seriously.

Something sparked in me and punched the wall with all of my strength. It created a gaping hole the size of Darwins face. It was so close to him I know he felt the wind of my fist.

"Just stay away from Marissa ok? or Next time I wont miss your face." I said indicating I will punch the crap out of him if he try's anything. I know he was possibly stronger then me but I think he got the message.

I went to my locker and when I shut the door I saw Sydney.

"Oh Hi, Jackson is it? I thought you would have been home by now." She said sweetly.

I said "Nope my rides not here yet."

"Oh, well wanna walk with me to the front I'm getting picked up as well." She asked

"Sure." I simply said.

We got to the front just on the other side of the bushes, Sydney started to say something but was cut off by the loud sound of another girls voice yell "Stop following me! Its bad enough I missed my bus I don't need you crowding me."

"But this is what you do when your going out with a girl." The more manly voice says.

I recognized those voices anywhere, it was Marissa and Darwin. "Ugh I already warned that creep!" I said basically talking to myself.

"Stop! I already have somebody I like ok!" Marissa says

"Yea I know Its my brother Jackson right."

She didn't answer for a minute.  But finally ended up saying "Yes." Quietly, I could feel my face heating up.

"Did you tell him how you feel?" Darwin asked.

"No not yet but I'm going to." She says looking down at the ground.

"If you don't tell him soon you might miss your chance." He says to her in a better tone.

"I know, its just."

"Its just what?" Darwin says being a better friend then usual.

"I don't know, he read that thing on the class board earlier today and I don't know if he likes me I mean I just met him but I fell so hard for him I don't even know how or why." She says without stopping. I could tell my face was completely red by now if it wasn't before.

"I try so hard, I know it's probably making things worse but I'm not sure what else to do, I even managed to stay away from him all day even though all I wanted to do was see him and clear up this whole confusion but I figure he needs the space"

She says completely miserable as she slumps down staring at the ground even harder. This made me feel like the worst person on the planet, I really liked Marissa I didn't want her to think of me as the monster that hates her when she cares so much for me.

"Wow Marissa that's a lot of effort to put in." Darwin says a little shocked.

"Yes! So now you see why I cant go out with you or have people thinking we are going out." She says as if mentally fixing herself together.

Darwin just looks at her but a smile begins to form all over his face. "Are you kidding?"

Marissa looks up at him furrowing her brow.

"Now I'm even more In love with you!" He says squeezing her in for a big hug "The amount of loyalty and dedication you put in is amazing!"

"Ugh stop! Just leave me alone!" Marissa says pushing darwin off of her, wow she was strong.

Sydney Pov.

I cant believe what I just heard all of this for a simple guy when she could have darwin the boy that should be mine! Ughh

I turned around to look at Jackson who was now bright red. Nooo my skin began to boil! I was not about to stand for this! Oh no not one bit!

But its gonna be ok, because I have a plan! If I can't have my man then why should you have yours?(Mentally evil laughs) oh yea watch out Marissa! I'm not giving up my man without a fight!!!
