Chapter 7: The Misguided Rumor

Ally pov:

I was sitting next to Calum disscusing what we were going to for our project.

"So I was thinking maybe we should do famous tragic deaths, you know how the teacher loved Elvis. But I mean only if you want, I have a tendency to take over group assignments so tell me if my manners slip." Calum said kind of nervously.

"Yeah totally" I said. That was actually a really good idea but I can't let him know I really care about this.

"Great! So I wrote down some names like John Lennon and Alex Rodriguez, but we need real information to back it up. So maybe you'd like to, I don't know come over so we can study some more?" There it was, oh no my stomach flipped my mind went blank. What do I do this will piss Sydney off for sure, there is no telling what she will do to me.

He was just looking at me full of hope and I just didn't know what to do or say. The bell was about to ring for the class to end and all I could do was patiently wait and possibly stall.

"I um, I cant. I have alot of homework to do, I'm failing like every class" I giggle. He just looked at me confused.

"Your not failing, atleast not this class." He said shifting his glasses, I started to panic. 

"How would you know?" I say kind of sassy, my voice just changed I didn't mean to say it like that but that's how it came out. 

"I check the class grades to see where I stand sometimes and you are always right under my name. Your the second smartest kid in almost every class." He timidly explained trying to cover up his stalker motive.

The bell finally rang and I rushed out the door saying "I'm sorry, I just cant" to him before I left. I felt SO bad I mean I honestly did like him, alot. He's smart and cute I don't know what to do, all I could do was get ready for lunch as I walk outside in shame of what I did to Calum.

Marissa pov.

I was spaced out and couldn't think! Darwin kissed me, foreal this time. That was my first kiss I don't know what to think or do. That wasn't a kiss he forced himself on me, he forced me to kiss him I had no choice. Atlas that what i want to believe, who does he think he is? Who does he think I am?...Regardless it still happened.

I walked out of 3rd period and the hallways started to flood with people. I went to my locker to drop off my stuff but when I closed the locker door Sydney was on the other side

"You did it didn't you, you kissed him just like everyone's saying you did!" She says sounding more shocked then I thought she would be. I try my best to ignore her it's none of her business what's going on in my life.

"Oh come on Marissa now your keeping your mouth shut!"

I turn around to see Jackson walking around the hallway looking completely lost. I wave at him and say;

"Hey Jackson!" He returns it and smiles a big blushy smile.

"Hey Marissa." He says cheezing really hard at me, he's so cute. I walk over to him ignoring Sydney, she looked pissed but for some reason she had this face as if to say 'just wait'. I hope she wasn't planning on anything her plans are always evil.

"Hey where you goin?" I ask Jackson.

"No where really I'm kind of lost I forgot how to get to the lunch room.."

I giggle and say "You can walk with me if you want I'm on my way there now." I smile.

"Sure" he smiles back as we walk down the stairs for lunch.

Kate, Liam and a couple of our other friends Jessica, and Samantha were all sitting at this round table I assumed was our new table, I liked It. I guess Sydney didn't want me sitting with them anymore.

Jackson and I walked over to them and sat down with our trays of food and talked and talked and talked. This boy was really funny wants he gets comfortable. Samantha, my short but long brown haired friend noticed our talking and semi flirting and said "Well Jackson how are you liking Garden Grove High?"

He looked at her while laughing trying to calm down and said "I really like it here and you... guys." He said looking at me and of course I blushed.

"Oh that's good." Samantha smiled.

Jessica, my blunt tall friend interrupted and practically yelled out "Is there anybody you like here so far?" She snickered.

He had a shy smile and said "Um..."

Kate perked up surprising she even heard us she was deep In Liam land.

"Really! Who!?" She said hands under her chin Intrigued with the drama filled conversation.

"Umm" before he could awnser Liam steps in, I was kind of relieved and stressed because I wanted to know too. 

"Hey guys leave the poor guy alone, we just met him." Liam says patting Jackson on the back.

Kate slumped down in her chair and continued to eat her watery spaghetti, yuck this cafeteria food.

Before the bell rang for lunch to be over I had to use the bathroom and told Jackson to meet me in 4th period. When I came out and started walking Sydney caught up to me.

"Marissa you can't ignore me forever." She said. I didn't even look at her I don't have time in my life to worry about her problems and stupid girl drama. As I approached the classroom I saw Jackson walking out, he looked like a mixture of depression and anger.

I walked up to him while he was walking and said "Are you ok?" But he just looked at me then looked away with a blank expression on his face and walked away without a word leaving me standing there.

I was so confused why did he blow me off like that we were getting along so well. When I walk in the classroom everyone looks me up and down whispering things that shouldn't be said about anyone. A girl yelled out "Slut!"

"Making out with Darwin knowing you two aren't even dating then go around with his brother Jackson?" a girl who knows nothing about me said.

"What a hoe!" some guy yelled out.

"I bet you slept with him didn't you?" another girl yelled out.

"Fucking trash!" another guy said.

No.

You know don't you Jackson.

The whole class period I sat there taking the verbal abuse as everyone talked and laughed at me. I tried to speak my mind, to tell the truth but it just made things worse. They all think I'm some sort of slut, including Jackson. Everyone's heard and I'm not even that type of girl, I would never kiss a boy I wasn't even going out with but, that's what they all think and now I'm a outcast.
