CYRUS FOX

'Nico park. '
'117 street. '
'Off road. '
'10PM'

The message said earlier.

I was in the car park already and I sat patiently waiting for Malverick. Seconds later, a charcoal grey range Rover with tinted windows showed up.

This isn't Malverick.

The first thought that clicked in my mind. Malverick doesn't like these  cars. He's more of a sports car type of person. I just sat there flustered and as if on cue, I received a call.

"Is that you? " I picked up. Malverick laughed, "Cyrus, my friend. You really think I'm stupid, don't you.

"I would never want to meet you in person even if I had a gun to my head. We both know there would be manyyy regrets. That's your new partner. So play nice." He teased like it was funny then hang up.

At least he knew that if I'd seen him in person he would have definitely had it.

I just stared at the car through my windscreen. The guy in the car flickered his headlights twice, signaling that I should step out.

So I did, making my way to the car. When I opened the passenger door, I was shocked to see...A Girl.

"Get in. " she said flatly and I did what I was told, closing the door behind me.

Does Malverick honestly expect me to work with, a Girl??

"You must be my new partner. " she smirked as she faced me, "I'm Jena. " she introduced herself as she started the car.

Seriously.

We left the car park and were on the open road. "You work for Malverick? " I asked flatly not liking the idea of having a partner, let alone a female one, who looks like she's seventeen.

"I don't even know who that is." She smirked, "I usually do my own thing. "
A solo girl, huh. Typical.

We drove in silence for a while until we reached a large gate. At the side of the gate, there was a sign that read 'No trespassing. '

She dialed a number on her phone and put it by her ear, "we're here. " she said then hung up. Seconds later, the gate opened revealing more of the open road.

Her words made me feel a little off. Who exactly was she telling that we're here?

We drove on the road for what seemed to be 10minutes through a thick forest and then almost 20 more minutes through an open field of grass.

She really loves her privacy, doesn't she?

We finally arrived at the main house.

Reminds me of my own.

The house was quite big and

there was what seemed to be a beach in our right. We got out of the car and she led the way into the house...

"Sit here. " Jena said as she headed upstairs. I sat on the couch in what appeared to be the living room and scanned the area.

The room was quite large. There were single couches at my side with a couch that curved to face the TV at my left. The 150" TV hang over the digital fire place which held the place together.

"I hope Brooke wasn't a problem. " I heard a familiar voice say cheekily from behind me.

Brooke?

I turned my he'd over the couch and to my surprise I saw Terry in  pair of black sweatpants and a white V neck.

"When I was told that I got a new partner, I didn't think it'd be you. " he said, as he sat down next to me. "Brooke's my sister I sent her to come get you. " It took me  while to figure out that I thought out loud. I was still trying to process the fact that Terry's my new partner now.

Well, it definitely beats having Brooke as a partner.

I just smirked, "she told me that her name is 'Jena' and that she's my new partner. " he laughed, "I told her not to use  a fake name. She wants to join the ring, but it's too dangerous for her. She's only seventeen after all." He looked at the fire place.

"Does she know? " I asked my curiosity getting the best too me. "Vee? God no. " he chuckled, "it'd be too dangerous for her to get involved too.

"That's why I try  my best not to be seen with her. I don't even remember the last time we went out. "
I could relate.

We briefly chatted for a while, talking about how to work together, as well as other things.

But we didn't go personal. We know this is strictly business and I appreciated that. But I was curious, "How did you and Vixen meet? "

He sighed, "Riley was neighbors with my family. She's the one who introduced me to Vixen when I was Nine. Since then Vixen and I have been really close. Eventually, I got into drugs. To keep Vixen  safe, I needed to distance myself from her.

"But I owed Riley for taking care of Brooke when my parents moved to Alabama. She kept the both of us to keep me close to Vee. But I didn't always stay with her because I was dealing. The rest I'm sure you can pick it up from there. " He said taking a sip of his whisky.

How many people does Riley actually know?

"And you? " "Riley's my aunt. " I answered, making Terry almost choke on his drink as soon as he took another sip of it.

"She has siblings? I'd always thought she was raised in the military. " We laughed

"Had." I corrected him.

"Had? " "My dad was shot. " I confessed not minding him knowing. It's the business after all. "Riley can be tough, that much I know. " I changed the subject.

A little after joking around, Terry called Brooke down to give me a ride and soon I was on my way back to NICO park...
