I see SOOOOOOO many SPM fanfics where Blumiere's father is an absolute JERK, to say the least. Honestly tho, I would like to see a fanfic that doesn't necessarily label him as the "evil father". Like, Blu's mother doesn't even seem to be there based on dialogue from Blu's dad and Blumiere himself.
To be honest, my favorite headcanon I have of Blu's dad is that since his wife died, he's just been a single parent who had absolutely no clue how to raise a child, let alone one with magic.
Like, he hardly knows how a baby behaves. He absolutely does not remember being a kid that could not do anything for himself, so he tries to get baby Blumiere to be self-sufficient when he's, like, three years old.

Blumiere's dad would DEFINITELY be the type of person to go to a library to find a book on how to raise a kid, in my opinion.

Another funny thing I would like to imagine; Blumiere's father grew absolutely tired trying to entertain his child so he hired a court jester, Dimentio, to play with him.
Whether it's adult Dimentio or child Dimentio is up to your interpretation.

So, for my main headcanon, Blumiere's father only seems cruel in-game from the memories because he is a single dad dealing with a rebellious phase teenager(?) and has probably spent most of his life struggling to cope with his wife being gone.
That and I think it would be awesome to have moments of Blu's dad just being an ignorant cinnamon roll.
