"Hey there Delilah what's it like in new York city?" Mack sang as he walked over to the seventeen year old as she sat beside the lake, "Mack I swear if you sing that again I'll shave your hair off in your sleep." Delilah smiled as she looked up at her sisters boyfriend, who had quickly became a best friend to her aswell as a brother.

She adored the man, he would go out of his way to keep her and her sister safe, sure he had an attitude problem sometimes but he'd always make up for it afterwards.

"Come on I want to teach you how to play guitar, maybe even train on some shooting yeah?" He spoke as he knelt beside her, the brunette nodded as she got a hand up from the boy, knocking against each others shoulders and nudging each other as they walked down towards the cabins the two laughed.

"So you tripped whilst running up the stairs? Jesus Delilah." He laughed as the girl did too, a pink tint to her cheeks as she recalled the embarrassing moment that happened in school only a year prior.

"Infront of almost all the school too." She added as she put her hand against her head, laughing.

"You know I can't wait until you get a boyfriend and I can tell him all these embarrassing stories, because these are too good to keep to myself." He grinned as he nudged her, stopping for a moment he smiled to himself "Hey how about we skip training today, have a fun day you know?" He asked looking at the teen, who nodded curiously, what had made him change his mind all of a sudden?

"A day in the lake perhaps?" He smirked as he out his hand on the girls back pointing towards Addy who stood close to the lake, training to look at the boy Delilah grinned.

Slowly sneaking up to the girl the pair had never been so quiet, keeping in their laughs as they grew closer and closer to the red head.

"Three, two, one!" Mack said as the pair jumped onto Addison, scaring her with a laugh as they fell into the water, coming up from under the water the trio laughed splashing each other "You guys scared the crap out of me! How were you so quiet!" The two laughed as they shook their heads "It took a lot of strength." Delilah smiled.

"I love you guys." Delilah smiled as she watched her only family laughing as they chucked water at each other.

"Come on snotdog let's have fun!" Addy smiled as she picked her sister up and splashing water up at her.

A happy family.

That's all Delilah wanted, a happy family. After watching her sister kill their own family the girl believed that happiness was something that could no longer be something she could have.

Yet as she stood in the cold lake, she watched as Addison and Mack laughed with one another, his hands at her sides as they whispered to each other, they were her family, and hopefully, they'd never get split up.

Camp blue sky was the best home Delilah had for all her life, there was never a second where the outside world made her feel unsafe.

The day they left the camp, was the day that she started to believe less in the world, thoughts having to come to mind every minute that she stayed alive, scared that her friends and family would be gone within seconds.

With Cassandra passing, the first girl since Angela to become her friend, and now Mack, the first boy to make Delilah feel safe during the apocalypse.

So as she stood within the cold water, the sun shining down on the three, her heart thumped within her chest, stomach twisted and a smile lifted on her lips, she hoped that things would never change.

But no one truly has a happy life, especially not a girl in the apocalypse that loves too hard, even when she shouldn't.
