Draco's POV

Draco had never felt anything like he did when he registered Cho's words. He was immediately filled with panic. Not at the princess being born, but at the fact that it could basically take Hermione from this world. From him. From her family. He snapped out of his thoughts at Cho hurrying him. "Right."

"Princess Rose, I need you to let mummy wake up now. She loves you so much and I know she'll want to meet you as soon as you come out. I love you and your mummy, so will you please let her wake up? I miss her sweetheart." He waited for a full 30 seconds before the tears began to flow.

"Rose please. I know you want to protect her, but you don't have to anymore. I will protect both of you. Please let mummy wake up so you can come out and meet all of us."

This time he watched as Hermione groaned and fluttered her eyes open. "Hermione!" He couldn't stop himself as he hugged her, making sure he didn't squeeze too tight.

Hermione's POV

Hermione groaned as she started to wake up. Her eyelids fluttered and a blonde was suddenly hugging her tight. "Draco" she muttered, her voice raspy and throat dry from being out cold for several days.

She didn't have long to register anything before she was gripping someone's hand and clutching her stomach. "Ahhh what the hell!" She had no idea she was in labor but the sudden nurses taking her, bed and all out of a room and down a corridor was enough to tell her she was having a baby.

Cho put a hand on Draco's arm and nodded "Thank you. I'll look after her. You better go sit with the others, I'm sorry I can't let you in with us."

With that she ran after her colleagues and Hermione.

Four hours later, Cho came into the waiting room looking exhausted but smiling. "Beautiful baby girl, born three minutes ago, weighing only 4lbs and has one very healthy set of lungs" she gave a half chuckle and said softly "My colleague will be bringing Hermione back to her room in a few minutes. You can see her but please not all at once, she's still quite overwhelmed with all that happened."

Draco's POV

The only thing he could do was nod. Both to Hermione and to Cho. He felt like a part of him was leaving him, but he knew that was just his veela blood not wanting its mate away from it. He had to trust that Cho would take the best care of her and she'd given him no reason to think otherwise.

In the waiting room, he paced nearly the entire four hours.

When Cho came into the room, he was still pacing, but he listened to her. Looking at Hermione's family, he smiled. "You all should go see her. I'm sure she's missed you." He forced a smile, but then thought of something and looked at Cho. "Can I see the baby or is she with her mother?"

He would wait if she was with Hermione, not sure she'd even want to see him right now. Hell she might hate him and think he was the reason for everything.

"Actually, she'll need clothes, so I'll just go get some for her. I'll be back soon." Not waiting for anyone to say anything, he left and went home. Once he was there, he felt a panic attack coming on. To reverse it, he tried to take deep breaths. It didn't help much. He somehow made it to Hermione's room which was connected to the other side of the nursery from his. He collapsed before he could get to her closet though.

3rd POV

Harry had a feeling he should follow Draco and was glad he did. As the blonde collapsed Harry dashed forward and caught him before he hit his head. Cursing under his breath Harry lay Draco down gently then went to get some smelling salts to wake the man up.
