3rd pov
The following months went by pretty much the same as those first few had. Hermione and Draco remained friends as they had agreed and as expected both Ron and Astoria were not happy about it. Which led us to this moment, with two cloaked individuals meeting in the room of requirement.
"Were you followed?" Asked a sickly sweet woman's voice.
"No. Did you bring it?" Responded an annoyed man.
The woman held out a potion bottle "Put it in her drink and she's all yours"
The man took the bottle and nodded "She won't know? And this won't hurt her right?"
The woman laughed "She'll be fine, and she'll be all yours"
The man nodded and left with a grin. The next morning everything was calm. Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione all sat together chatting about the latest quidditch match where Ravenclaw beat Hufflepuff.
"Here Hermione" Ron said passing her a drink "I topped up your juice"
Hermione gave him a small smile as she took it. "Thanks Ron." She took a drink and coughed a little "Did you mix pumpkin and orange juice?"
Ron blushed chuckling "Sorry guess I did. Is it ok tho?"
Hermione nodded "Its not bad. Just took me by surprise" she chuckled and placed her cup down.
Ron kept an eye on her drink as they continued their breakfast, when he saw it was finished he smiled and leant over kissing her cheek.
Hermione blushed deeply and looked shyly at her food. However, she was smiling.Narcissa’s POV
Things had been going well lately. Astoria had toned down her blatant disrespect of Hermione. Draco and Hermione’s friendship had become even stronger and his mum had noticed that he was no longer in need of the potions the healers had given him.
It warmed her heart to see her only child so happy. He was nearly back to the happy child she knew from his childhood. There was nothing she wanted more. He had told her of his newfound friendship with none other than Hermione Granger. Narcissa had never been as prejudiced as her husband had. Since she’d made up with her only living sister, she was actually finding there were few differences between magical and muggle. So, she was happy that Ms. Granger was helping her son. She knew the night in the drawing room that the young woman was bright and just what her son needed. She’d seen the way he looked at her and how he’d cringed during the torture.
When she’d received a letter from her godson, she was overjoyed that she was her son’s future. The problem was this new law. She knew Astoria’s family and she could tolerate them, but given what Blaise had said about the young blonde, she knew this would end badly.
Draco’s POV
Draco sat at breakfast across Pansy and Blaise, while Astoria sat next to him. He wasn’t eating much, but not because of his depression this time. He just truly wasn’t hungry.
“Hey D, what do you say we go for a fly later?”
He looked at his godbrother with a grin. “I think it’s a wonderful idea B. How about after lunch?” The darker male nodded.
Draco frowned when he noticed Astoria staring at something. Following her gaze, he groaned. Weasel. He couldn’t see Hermione’s reaction to the peck, but it didn’t matter. They were supposed to be marrying soon anyway, so it wasn’t unexpected. Although every time he noticed Weasel touching Hermione, he felt a weird twisting in his stomach. He didn’t understand it.
“That’s so sweet. They really are perfect for each other.” Astoria smirked to herself so no one else could see, but Draco stiffened.
Were they perfect for one another? He didn’t think so. After all, Weasel wasn’t even close to her intelligence level and his table manners were nonexistent. He didn’t say anything and instead finished his food and headed for the dungeons for potions. He just wanted her to be happy. He’d said that before and he meant it.
