In all honesty? He hadn't seen Killer's appeal of Cross at all. He just seemed like another new guy who he probably wouldn't get to know all that much. And then he started to notice how much he cared about others opinions, and he seemed willing to do almost anything for his teammates and boss, not to mention how trusting and honest he was.

He couldn't lie, he was a bit nice to play around with. Tense, strict, and kind of stubborn at first, but really he's just a huge softie. 'Another mother hen' as Killer puts it, but easy to convince to do certain things.

Before he knew it, he'd almost giggle, hiding the amusing smile behind his hand at the small little slip-up Cross had made, watching as he awkwardly got himself back on his feet, face flushed with embarrassment. Though, Killer wasn't as well-mannered, wheezing out and disrupting the meeting we just were having.

Boss would shoot him a warning glare, but Killer couldn't even bother to care, that shit-eating and unwavering grin staying. Although he doesn't exactly 'feel', only those close to him would notice the way his sockets seemed to narrow, the edges of his smile widening just by a fraction. He clearly was finding fun in this.

"S-Sorry, sir-- I-I mean boss." Cross would stutter out, getting another snicker from Killer, and leading to him trying to cover up his flushed face with his scarf, humiliated as he sat down on his seat.

Dust would lean in a little closer, their chairs conveniently close as he'd whisper for Cross and Cross' ears only, having only moved just barely, not glancing at him so as not to make himself suspicious, and his very own scarf hiding the way his mouth would move. "You didn't miss much Cross. We're paired together to go search some new AU or whatever. Worse case scenario is we have to get our hands dirty should they be hostile."

Cross would nod thankfully, sending a soft smile his way, but Dust would simply scoff, ignoring the fact that Paps was finding a certain interest in hanging around Cross' side, the floating 'ghost' of a skull looking him up and down, clearly in distaste at his seemingly friendly demeanor towards him.

He had unintentionally tuned out the Boss' voice, his lights lingering a little too much in Cross' direction, oblivious to Papyrus' presence.

A single tap on the table by Boss would bring Dust back, muttering an apology, though he would wave it off, knowing how 'hard' it'd be too have the ghost of his dead brother haunting him and being 'annoying', as he states it. ..Taking pity.

The look Paps' was holding seemed to be telling a simple answer, though not speaking a word.

It was as if to say- 'What are you doing?' Though of course, not gently. It seemed to be more-- hostile. Aggressive. It seemed He'd ticked him off a bit due to how he acted to Cross.

Buuut anymore attention directed at him and he'd have to stay back to be retold of the plan, so he simply planned to ignore him, watching Boss in silence as he explained in the deep soothing voice, though very much deceitful, almost like a mask. Although occasionally he would care for us like a worried and overprotective father..- He can be.. Strict at times. It's better to stay on his good side than his bad, and wasting his time by having him have to re-tell the entire plan to Dust would most likely annoy him, as he'd be missing out on vital paperwork in need of signing and all of that.

-------------------------

Having retreated to the unsettling silence that was of his room, he was completely caught off guard by the knocking. Usually he would've heard footsteps. ..Odd. He must've been getting a little too lost in his thoughts.

He'd get up, though albeit, quite a bit ungracefully, turning the knob to be greeted with the soldier he'd been paired up with- Cross. "Hm?"

"A-Ah, well uhm- According to Nightmare-" Dust would let his slip-up slide, not correcting him for having used the Boss' actual name. "It'll be a stealth mission lasting for a few days at least, and we'll be having to use disguises, so.. Since it seems we'll have to act close, I figured maybe we could try to get to know each other better?"

Papyrus had known him by now, glaring at him, knowing just how stubborn Dust was-- And that he was also not going to use it to kill Cross for EXP. ..Boss would be displeased of him if he were to do so, and after all- The more EXP, the more sins would crawl upon his back, and the more he'd suffer and lose parts of himself, fragmented little pieces, until he'd be gone altogether, and all that would be left is a merciless killer.

"Of course."

And then we sparred.

We spoke.

We slept.

And then was the day we were meant to do our mission.

-------------------------

Dust would shift a little, staring at himself in the mirror. He never did like to look at himself for this long, but he didn't look too bad, besides the way the fabric would hang awkwardly without some sort of skin to properly fill it out, so with an annoyed sigh, he'd fill it out in magic ecto. From a chest, to arms, and all the way down. he'd avoid forming ecto on my hands though, stopping just at the wrists, as well as the neck.

He would walk out, hearing the soft clack of his new shoes, making sure everything was straightened out a little bit, before finding Cross in a similar suit as his, shifting uncomfortably. "You look nice." He spoke out, and the soldier would jump, before nodding a little. He seemed a little nervous, but of course- We were to act 'close'. That was an understatement, but still.

And then we were off.

Dust would try to focus on the feeling of Cross' hands holding his own. He almost felt naked without his hood and scarf-- almost exposed, even. It just didn't feel right, and Dust could tell there was something similar with Cross. Not used to his scarf and hood gone, nor the heavy weight of his very complex uniform.

He winced a little as the newbie would step on his foot, causing him to curse under his breath, and the other to whisper a soft apology. ..Whatever- It wasn't like he was all that good at this dancing either.

What truly disgusted me though was the amount of humans here.. No wonder were getting stared at so much.

A feeling started to bubble up in my stomach, and he had almost giggled unrestrained at the thought. "Hey Crossy." He said, having picked up the little nickname Killer had for him. The soldier would perk up, having heard him, and he'd continue. "Do you wanna get their eyes off of us?"

He'd nod. "Follow my lead." Dust would whisper, before carefully placing a hand on his back as we would spin a little alongside the dancing pairs, leaning closer, until our mouths were close.

His cheeks would heat up a soft purple. ..Ah. A brighter shade then mine, Dust would think.

Cross seemed to get the idea, there being a hesitant pause, before they'd lean closer, pressing their lips against the other. Of course, it lasted longer than necessary, but Dust could clearly hear the sounds of disgust, turning their heads away.

And then the eyes were off us.

It didn't get rid of the 'talking behind our backs' part- Fuck no. That shit got even louder. But it did get their attention off- At least with their gaze, not wanting to see two monster gays kiss haha.

And it seemed like Cross hadn't minded it either.

..And- for some odd reason, it seemed like Paps was gone. At least for now. He seemed to disappear the moment we started getting closer.

-------------------------

We were-- ..scolded after, for getting distracted.

Whoops. Sorry Boss, his lips were just so enticing.

And of course Killer had to make fun of us, but Dust had hardly cared.

Being with Cross had lit up a flame in him he hadn't even known existed, and nothing could extinguish that.
