~ Dust's POV ~

I let an exhale, my breath visible in the cold air as I slowly walked, my stained hands in my pockets.

"Someone's following us brother." Papyrus spoke, his floating skull following with my footsteps, the scarf attached to seemingly nothing having flowed in the wind.

My glowing eye lights flickered to behind me, before going back to looking ahead, scoffing. "..I'll be fine, Paps." I said, my voice rough and scratchy.

"You'll have killed us all for nothing. What if it was the human?" I stopped where I stood, my eyes narrowing, hearing whoever it was' footsteps stop a halt seconds later. Now I knew where they were.

My eye lights glowed brighter as I teleported there, raising a hand out to trap whoever it was by it's soul. My magic flickered off in surprise at who it was. ..A monster? A skeleton. With a hole in its head..- Almost looks like me.

"What are you doing? Kill them! We need EXP!" I tuned out Paps, eyeing whoever this was up and down. "..And you are..?" I questioned, ready to impale them with a bone if it came to that.

"..Sans. ..But you can call me Horror." Horror's voice sounded more rough and ruined, suffering from not enough use. The skeleton seemed to have trouble putting words together. ..But Sans? "..I'm Dust, I suppose." I answered back, tense.

"..Need..- place to stay.." I blinked, wondering if he had meant if I wanted a place, before quickly putting two and two together. His clothes were ripped, stained with blood. He needed a place to stay. He had also looked starved.

"Kill him Sans! He'll give us more EXP!" Paps continued to speak, but for once? There was something that interested me more than listening to him tell me what to do.

"..Follow me." I muttered softly, and he seemed to understand. I was about to go, before Horror had raised a hand to his injury, pulling at it, as if automatically. I wasn't an expert, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't good, so I moved one of my dusty hands out, grabbing his wrist to prevent him from continuing to do that.

He seemed to freeze in realization. "..Not- ..Not suppose 'ta do that.." He mumbled, pulling his hand back down as I let him go. So he knew that but still kept doing it? Must be too much of a habit to stop easily.

I held his hand to prevent it from going there, bringing the both of us over to my house. I brought him inside, having him sit on the couch as I made him hot chocolate. He seemed to be hungry, and he must've been cold..

When I returned with his mug, I blinked. An axe. I suppose I hadn't realized that before. He had an axe that was stained with what seemed to be endless slaughter. I shrugged it off, handing him his hot chocolate. "What are you doing! All our deaths will have been in vain! He'll kill you!" I did take note of Paps' warning, but having company was nice. ..I didn't know there was still a monster alive.

"..Thank you." He thanked me quietly, before taking a sip from his cup. His shoulders seemed to relax, his other hand loosening it's grip from the axe, before it fell to the ground, creating a slight dent. That'd be fine I suppose- It's not like this house was doing any better anyways.

I sat down on the couch beside him, watching him quietly, before looking over at the wall, zoning out.

Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep, only to wake up in the darkness. My eye lights helped me see the way, groggily sitting back up. ..What happened..? I looked down to my right, before blinking in remembrance. Ah. Right. He was here. He was asleep though, and the cup was empty, on the table beside him. Guess he enjoyed it.

I sat there to think about things I suppose, not really knowing what to. Before I knew it, it was morning again, but it seemed Horror was still awake. I suppose he liked to sleep?

"The human's back, Sans." Paps had whispered into my non-existent ear, and I froze. ..So soon? I glanced down at Horror, before sighing. I pulled my hood over my head, shortcutting to judgement hall, forcing a grin on my face. "Welcome back, old pal."

----------------------------------------------------------------

I spat out blood, kneeling down, low on HP. ..How could it end like this so quickly? I glared at the human, wheezing in breaths of air, slowly bleeding out.

"*You've grown weak, Sansy." The human's distorted and glitched voice spoke, about to land the final blow with their knife. I closed my eyes, waiting for it to come, before nothing-? I hesitantly opened up my eyes, only to freeze up at the sight of who knows how many bones shooting straight through their chest, and then they were dead.

"..You- ..You okay?" Horror stuttered out, holding his hand out for me to get back up. I glanced over at the human's lifeless body, before taking his hand, taking in a bit of a breather. "Mm, yeah." I responded, clutching my chest, having been bleeding out.

----------------------------------------------------------------

All my bones had been mended back together, my wounds sealed shut as well- Horror was surprisingly gifted at healing. After the near death experience, I had a new gratefulness towards him. He'd been taking care of me, feeding me, and just making sure I was okay. ..Honestly, this sort of kindness was nice. I hadn't been shown this in awhile.

Though, I could tell he had been starting to treat me differently. He seemed to be more giving, helping me more, and just honestly being there.

I was sitting up straight, leaning against the wall as I looked to my right. He was there, having fallen asleep in a chair. I hesitated for a moment, before leaning over, gently kissing him on the forehead, a soft blush forming on my cheeks.

"You're disgusting, you know-" Papyrus spoke, eyeing me as if I had wronged him. ..But what was on my mind, was something else entirely.

..He had blushed back.
