Chapter 52

They all arrived at the courthouse a few hours later. Renee and Jonathan were trying to calm Rebecca down as they were currently sitting in their seats. Jonathan wrapped an arm around Rebecca as she shook from nervousness.

The courthouse was crowded, and Rebecca looked around and seen Randals lawyer, and she seemed like a good one. Luckily since Joe worked on these kind of cases before, the judge allowed Colby to have Joe as his lawyer.

Rebecca looked at the doors when someone came through, she sighed a breath of relief when she saw Joe. He walked over to the group of three fixing his tie. "Joe...how's everything going?"

Joe shook his head. "Not good, but i need you guys to come with me." He wrapped his arm around Rebecca and walked her through the courthouse. Interviewers  stuck the microphone in her face and asked questions while others would flash their camera at her taking pictures. "Give her room. Stop getting so close to her." Joe said clearing a path as they walked into a small room.

They walked in before Joe turned around and locked the door. Rebecca looked around and seen Colby come out of the bathroom with a suit on and his hair tied back in a bun. He looked at her and smiled and she ran into his arms. "Hey." Colby said catching her in a tight hug. They both had smiles plastered on their faces and they hugged.

Colby sat Rebecca down and gave her a dizzying kiss. He looked down at the black dress she had on and smiled. "You look beautiful."

Rebecca smiled and kissed him again. "Thank you love. It's nice seeing you in something else besides orange." She said running her hand down his suit. Colby gave her another hug. "Are you okay?"

"Not really. I already know i'm going to plead guilty so why bother trying to lie." That's when he looked up and saw Joe looking at him with his eyebrows raised. "Please tell me you wasn't going to lie?"

Rebecca grabbed his face and made him look at her. "Actually we weren't."

Jonathan walked over and pulled out security footage of Randal coming by at their house. "Joe's gonna tell him what happened."

Colby furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head. "Listen man, we think you will have a shorter sentence if the judge knows you were protecting Becks. She will testify too, so they'll know we're not lying." Joe clapped Colby on the shoulder.

Colby nodded and looked back at Rebecca. He then looked around at the four of them. "Thank you. I love you guys."

Renee smiled and walked over to him to give him a hug before Joe and Jonathan joined too, then it was just the five of them together.

Three loud bangs were heard on the stand. "So Ms. Quin let me get this straight. You were attacked in your home one night after your fiancé went out?"

"Yes your honor." Rebecca said from beside him in the witness stand.

"And Randal tried to kill you correct?" He asked again.

"Yes your honor." She looked around and seen Colby sitting beside Joe at the defendants table. Colby gave her a reassuring smile to continue.

"What weapons did he use?"

Rebecca looked down and fiddled with her fingers. "Uhm...he chased me around the house with a knife. He also punched and kicked me at moments, then he almost choked me to death." Rebecca said looking back up.

The judge nodded while the other court members wrote their thoughts down. "You can go back to your seat Ms. Quin, thank you for your time."

An officer escorted her back into her seat. Once she was seated Renee gave Rebecca's hand a squeeze. "You did good Becks." Renee gave her a warm smile. Colby looked back at her and nodded, smiling also.

An officer then escorted Colby to the witness stand. "Mr. Lopez, it has been brought to my attention by your lawyer Joe, that you killed Mr. Randal Orton to protect your family?"

Colby nodded. "Yes your honor. He threatened me and my family multiple times then he attacked my fiancée and our daughter when i wasn't home. I was doing what i had to do to protect them."

The judge nodded. He motioned for Randy's lawyer to come up. She brought the knife Colby had used to kill him with and showed it to the judge. "Your honor, Randal Orton never threatened his family. In fact he didn't even know who Rebecca and Roux was until after Rebecca attacked him."

Joe stood up and slammed his hands on the table. "Your honor we showed you proof that-"

The judge hit his gavel down making Joe stop. "Mr. Anoai you can sit down please." Once Joe was seated the judge motioned for Randy's lawyer, Caitlyn, to continue.

"You see you honor, Rebecca broke into Randy's home and threatened him, so that's what made him come to their house to attack her."

"Your honor Rebecca had never met Randy before he attacked her!" Colby said.

"He's lying your honor!" Caitlyn exclaimed.

"You're the one whose making up lies! My wife never did a thing!"

"She's not even you're wife! See he's lying again!"

The judge hit his gavel on the stand once again making them all shut up. "Ms. Caitlyn do you have any evidence of this situation?"

Caitlyn stuttered and shook her head. "You're honor Randal was attacked by Rebecca-"

"Have you got any evidence?!" The judge asked again.

Caitlyn stared at Colby who smirked. "No you're honor."

"Thank you. Now please take a seat." The judge waited for Caitlyn to sit down before looking over at Joe. "Mr. Anoai, please elaborate what evidence you have."

Joe grabbed the video package he had and the knife Randy tried to kill Rebecca with. He walked up and handed it to the judge. "This knife sir is what Randal tried to hurt Rebecca with. I also have security footage of that same night."

The judge watched the video in silence. Colby peeked over and tensed up watching the love of his life get attacked. Once the video was over the judge continued. "Thank you Mr. Anoai. Officer please escort Mr. Lopez back to the defendants table."

After all of the court room talked the judge made everyone stand. Rebecca stood with Renee and Jonathan, all of their hands intertwined. Colby stood with Joe and they clenched their fists. "After hearing all relevant evidence and requests for departures, i have found the defendant....

"Guilty." Rebecca hunched over as Jonathan caught her, and she let all of the tears fall. "He will be sentenced to two years in prison, since Randal tried to commit a crime." The judge hit the gavel on the stand making the case closed. Joe pulled Colby into a hug as they both cried. Renee and Jonathan tried to help Rebecca up but she was pulled to the floor by her emotions.

"Becks... you need to tell him goodbye." Jon said. He rubbed some hair out of her face. "Say goodbye Becks." He slowly helped Rebecca up and she ran over to Colby who caught her immediately.

They cried and hugged each other tightly. He pulled back and pulled her into a passionate kiss. The officers were coming to try and cuff Colby up, but they continued kissing. Rebecca pulled back and rested her forehead against his as a cop tried to pull her away. "You'll be okay love. I love you so much, you'll be okay." She whispered in his ear. She gave him another deep kiss before finally being pulled away.

The officers had taken Colby to his cell, then they handed him his orange jumpsuit. He changed out of his suit and they locked him inside. Colby then sat on his bed and opened up his pillow case.

Once the officers were not watching him, he opened his mouth and pulled out the key that Rebecca had slipped in his mouth during their passionate kiss. He looked at the key and seen a date and time on the back. He slipped the key into the pillowcase, waiting for his chance to escape.
