Now that Colby and Rebecca knew each other's secrets, they somehow loved each other more. It felt like neither one of them had to lie anymore. It was like a burden was lifted off of their shoulders.
They had reported that Luke was the one that killed Mercedes, so the police was on the hunt for him. Joe and Jonathan ended up not burying him, so instead they broke into his house to hang him from his stairwell, to make it look like a suicide. Of course it had worked, and before they knew it, all of New York new that Mercedes was killed by Luke. Rebecca had thought of that plan after her and Colby cleaned the warehouse they had her kidnapped at, so they executed the plan.
"I can't believe your psycho ex killed her. He's literally insane Becks." Pam was at the counter on a barstool at the bakery watching Rebecca work. Colby and Pam closed the Library for a few days for a holiday break. Rebecca was going to close too, but since it was almost Thanksgiving, she knew people would want some desserts so she kept it open. "How did he even know where Mercedes lived?"
Rebecca handed her a coffee. "I have no clue. He probably stalked her." Rebecca was hoping her and Colby's statement sounded true, and right now it was working perfectly.
"I'm upset he's dead." Rebecca looked at her confused. "I know it sounds bad but he abused you and then he killed Mercedes. I wish he got the life sentence so he could suffer, he got the easy way out killing himself."
She's got a good point. "I can see your point."
"Are you nervous to meet Colby's family?" Pam smiled as she said it though.
Flying from Iowa to New York was difficult, especially now that Covid had hit, so his family are staying in Iowa and spending thanksgiving together. Holly insisted on Colby being there, so he got him and Rebecca plane tickets to go to Iowa. When Colby had told his family about him bringing Rebecca, they all got excited, especially his mom. "I'm a little nervous. I've never been introduced to any of my boyfriends family's. But that also makes me feel, somehow special, because it means he's really wanting us to work. And i know Colby will be there, so that makes me little less nervous."
Pam smiled. "Yeah my family is coming over and we're gonna spend the holiday together. I'm excited! I've not seen them in a few years."
Rebecca hadn't seen her family in years either. She was hoping their visit with Colby's family would go good, because she wanted to take him to Ireland to meet her family. "Well i hope you have a good time Pam." She looked up when she heard the bell of the bakery sound, and Colby, Joe, and Jonathan walked in. He winked at her when they made eye contact and they went and sat in a booth towards the back. Pam looked up at her with furrowed eyebrows. "I'll be back in a few minutes i'm going to go take their order. Gionna! Can you stand here at the register so the people can pay? I'm going to take orders."
Gionna smiled and nodded. "Of course! Trinity was cleaning tables and Kevin was in the kitchen baking so i wasn't doing anything."
Rebecca nodded and went to an old couples table to take their order. She sent the order to the kitchen staff from her ipad, then went to Colby's table. Colby's face lit up when she walked over there. He wrapped his arm around her hip, "Hey you three. What are you guys doing?"
Jonathan threw a napkin at Joe for mumbling something about him and Renee. "Shut up dude. We were just hanging out since we all have to leave to go visit our families. You wanna join us?"
I would love to, but i'm the owner of this place and if i get distracted so will everyone else. "No it's ok i'm pretty busy. Where are you guys traveling to?"
"Well my family is in Florida right now so i'm going to meet up with my cousins at the airport and meet the rest of the family there." Joe said.
"And me and Renee are going to Cincinnati for a few days. We were going to go to Toronto so we could see her family, but the flights got canceled due to sickness so we're going to wait to go meet her family around Christmas."
"Well that sounds nice. I hope you all have a safe and fun trip." She pulled out her iPad. "What can i get you?"
"I'll take a coffee and a muffin." Jonathan hardly ever came into her bakery, but every time he did he would order the same thing.
"I want a glazed donut and a hot chocolate."
"Ok, and for you babe?"
"I'll just take a coffee." When she furrowed her eyebrows he chuckled. "You said you were cooking tonight remember?" He rubbed on her leg now that she had stood closer to him.
She was going to cook for his family, but they couldn't really bring food onto a plane, so she was going to cook something just for the two of them to enjoy. "I had forgot about that." She chuckled. "Ok i'm going to put these in and i'll be back later." She bent down and kissed Colby's forehead.
When she went back up front Joe had nudged him while Jonathan was teasing about how red his face had gotten. When they had first started dating he got butterflies every time he looked at her. He still got butterflies when she touched him, and Jonathan would always make fun of him for looking like a kid in a candy store when he saw her. He didn't mind it though, he knew they were just teasing. Him and Joe would tease Renee and Jonathan after they got engaged because they were all over each other.
They would be leaving tomorrow and he wanted his family to like Rebecca. He loved and adored her, and he wanted his family to love her too, because he wasn't planning on getting rid of her any time soon.
