The queen dragon unlatched the door to my cage. Ok, if I can just get the leaf under one of her scales, I'll have enough time to jump down from the door. The queen reached her hand, which was more than half the her, in to the cage. She dashed up hand and "BAM!" stuck the leaf right in between to scales. Nothing. Absolutely nothing happened. She just stood there. So this was it, this was how I was going to go. As she closed her eyes waiting, she heard a grumble from the happy dragon. She opened her eyes and looked up.

It seemed that she had noticed her attempts, even so she wasn't fazed in the slightest. She turned to the happy dragon and gave her a "fine why don't you try" look. The happy dragon reached both her hands in. She decided not to try anything, their scales were nearly impenetrable, it wasn't like there was anything she could do. The happy dragon pick her up with one on hand and set her in the other. She pulled her hand out of the cage and the happy dragon lifted her up to eye level.

It was terrifying and exhilarating being up this high and being only a few feet away from a dragons face. As the dragon breathed by her it felt like a warm breeze. She paused all her thought for a moment, and took in the dragons face. Now that she had a closer look she could see just how beautiful this dragon was. She had round eyes the colors of tree leaves. Her horns swooped upward and each of her scales had memorizing glimmer to them. Her eyes looked sweet, like she would never even think of hurting her. Then she snapped out of it.

"JUST EAT ME ALREADY!" she said aloud. She knew that dragons couldn't understand her but she didn't care. Both dragons look surprised although the happy dragons looked more pleasantly surprised. "YEAH THAYS RIGHT I CAN TALK!" she said. "Squeak eek squrble" said the happy dragon in a rather patronizing way. "I do NOT need to be talked to like some baby." she said. Or even worse a pet.

She lowered her hand, set me back in the cage, and put the latch back into place. She said "growlll" to the queen dragon and strolled out the door. The queen dragon turned to the black dragon and chatted quietly with him. They weren't arguing, but the conversation seemed strained.

She couldn't believe it. There was absolutely no way that had just happened. The dragons didn't eat her. They didn't even seemed like they wanted to. I mean I don't consider my self fine cuisine but JEEZ I didn't think I was that repulsive.

This didn't mean she was letting her guard down completely, but it was comforting to know the dragons were pretty uninterested. And that look the happy dragon gave her made her think that she might just be able to be friends with the dragons. No never mind, there's no way. Even so that maybe... lingered in the back of her mind.

A few hours later, as she was lying on the ground taking a nap, the scent of fried fruit woke her up. And just like a dam breaking, memories came flooding in.
