Chapter 37 ✨

1 week later ~

Tahany ~

Today we were all going to Surraiyah's house to discuss details about her wedding. By we I mean everyone that was in her bridal party. It consisted of me, Layla , my sister in laws , and Surraiyah's sister in law.

Surraiyah is the only child so she grew up close with her cousins which happen to be my in laws. Being friends with Surraiyah led me to meet the love of my life and now she's found the love of her life so I was excitedd.

" Salam wailakum." Layla and I said entering the house .

" Wailakum Salam." Everyone said but I noticed My sister in laws said avoiding eye contact .

We went around giving everyone hugs and sat down in the living room as Surraiyah pulled up a PowerPoint on her tv.

" Okay guys so congrats your all going to be in my bridal party." She said excited as we all yelled and clapped .

" So this is not the typical Arab wedding it's going to be a fusion wedding since my husband is from The Gambia." She said .

" Raiyahh it's going to be beautiful and I can't wait." I said .

So the whole wedding process last a week and I'm excited about that . I feel special for a whole week . My husband is Soninke btw so his sisters will explain more about that ." She said .

" So Wednesday We're going to do my walima at the masjid because my nikkah was already done and it was simple." Surraiyah said.

Okay so we are going to try and summarize this as much as we can. So basically on the Thursday she's going to do some traditional things , like take a special shower ,  have her
hair braided ,  wear white clothes and then she'll be escorted to Abdoulhakim's house by some of her family members.

Then for the next week , she'll remain in the white clothes and have sort of a detox . She'll have to stay in the room and only drink hot liquids and eat things like rice pudding and soups. Nothing else.

After the week is over , she'll basically leave the room all dressed up and then we party for the rest of the night . There will be outfit changes and everything . But that's basically it for our culture . Of course you'll be able to encorporate your culture as well . 

" I'm familiar with it because I'm African too but the culture is so beautiful, you'll love it Surraiyah." I reassured her .

" Yesss , I'm so excited." She exclaimed.

" I'm so excited to experience the culture ." Halima said as Safia and Zahara agreed .

" Okay for the nikkah we will have matching outfits and after my detox week for the friday,  we will also have matching outfits." Surraiyah said.

A little later ~

We were done talking about the wedding for the day and we were just chilling but my sister in laws were still acting suspicious.

" Bro are y'a good , why y'a acting weird ." I asked them .

" Who's acting weird ?" Safia asked .

" Yah , like why aren't yah making eye contact whenever y'a talk to me ." I asked .

" Girl nothing , you should ask your husband." Zahara said .

" is he surprising me , omg don't even tell me . I don't wanna know ." I said getting excited I loved surprises .

It was so hard to be around Tahany today after going to Fatima's house two days ago . My brother and Fatima indeed got engaged and we feel horrible about it .
