I never realized how sleep deprived I had been on the streets.
When I woke up from that 'nap', it was 1:32 PM...Of the next day.
I grumbled sitting up in bed swinging my legs over the edge then sighed. Putting my head in my hands I sat like that for a while. I sighed again then stood up. Almost immediately I was hit by the fact that the little boy who I had been told was Cade was playing Thomas the Train on a TV that was on his side of the room.
At first he took no notice of me then when he saw me his eyes widened, "Are you..." He jumped up grinning crazily, "You be my brotherrr!" He ran at me and hugged my legs.
I was shocked for a moment then growled slightly, "Get off me."
No response except tighter hug.
"Get off me." I grabbed him, picked him up, and set him down far away from me, "Don't do that again." I glared at him before walking out the door downstairs.
There was no one downstairs that I could see. But what I did see, was a German Shepard dog running up to me wagging its tail. On its collar was a tag that said Buddy.
As soon as I saw this, my body stiffened and my jaw clenched. How dare he think that could make up for it?
I ignored the dog's wagging tail and whimpering for attention for the rest of that day
Walking into the kitchen I opened several cabinets in the wondrous search for food. Finally I found a box of rice crispies. Opening it I poured it in a bowl, poured milk in it, then a little sugar.
Before I could start eating it though, Cade ran in, "Hey! Those are my rice crispies! Not yours. Give it to me!" He tried to put on a dangerous face but I had seen so many much worse ones he didn't even begin to intimidate me.
I smirked and purposefully took a big spoonful from the bowl, "What are you going to do to stop me huh?"
He clearly wasn't expecting this answer, "Uhm...I will uh...I'll...I'll do something bad!" He puffed his chest up proudly as if it was the best come back in the world.
"Oh really? Do you have any idea how people can die?" I asked matter o' factly.
He stood and stared at me shocked, "Huh?"
Setting the bowl down I stepped toward him, "Did you know, that if you put a knife in a person's throat but don't aim at their jugular, that they could survive?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
He didn't reply, just stared.
"Now now. Didn't your mommy ever tell you staring is rude?" I smirked but in truth I hated the fact that my mother had another child.
He shook his head.
I scoffed, "Makes sense." I stood up, "Where did your parents go?"
"Well Daddy goes to work and Mommy works out at her garden." He said all the names reverently as if they were the name of God.
It made sense Mom would be at her garden. When I knew her she always was out at her garden. Hardly ever was she anywhere else. I nodded, "Cool. I'm going swimming."
There was a huge pool out back. Maybe twenty feet long and ten feet wide. It didn't make sense though. Why when I lived with Avo at first, did he not have a house like this? I sighed shaking my head and walked out back.
The pool looked so tempting. In fact, so tempting that I wanted to just jump right in with my clothes on but if I did so, I would get my clothes wet that were my only pair. I growled at this thought then walked back inside.
