"Where are we??" Sam panted out as we ran to the nearest sand dune.
I shouted back to her, "I don't know! Run faster! The guards are almost onto us."
It was true. As soon as we had reached about twenty feet away from the building, six guards came rushing out armed with pistols and rifles. I had managed to take out four of them with my pistol but the other two were big bulky men (No I wasn't checking them out!)
Turns out, climbing a sand dune was really hard. The higher you got up it, the sand just kept crumbling under your feet. That was exactly what was happening to us.
Sam lost her footing at one point and began tumbling down but I caught her and pushed her back up the dune.
Finally we reached the top but when I looked down where the guards should've been, I was greeted with the surprise of their two bodies laying on the ground. The sand around their bodies soaking up blood.
I didn't know whether to be happy or scared. Whatever took them out had to have been either strong or stealthy.
I got my answer pretty soon by a solid force smashing into my chest and driving me to the not-so-sturdy ground.
The object and I rolled down the other side of the sand dune. At one point I even back cartwheeled and in that moment I kicked upwards at the object making it fly off me.
I coughed up sand as I stumbled to my feet. My vision was blurry from the sand but I could vaguely see a black figure. I rubbed the rest of the sand out of my eyes and my fears were right.
Natasha.
She stood there in front of me with her fists clenched, hate blazing in her eyes.
"Natasha please-" I began but she cut me off.
"Shut the fuck up." She snarled and lunged at me with such speed that if I hadn't had new speed, I wouldn't have been able to meet her strike.
Her fist came down to me but was met with mine. Let me tell you, two fists hitting each other at super speeds, does not feel good.
For a moment our faces were near and surprise was visible in her eyes then she hissed, "I almost forgot. Avo performed the operation on you as well didn't he? He didn't tell you he did it to me too did he?"
Shock registered in my mind and she laughed, "Surprised? Good!"
And with that she flipped and slammed her feet into my chest so hard that any normal human being's ribs probably would've cracked.
I grunted in pain and stumbled backwards falling onto the ground. I growled in my throat and flipped to my feet. No more rules anymore.
I ran at her and slammed my shoulder into her stomach flipping her over onto her back. I grabbed her and put her in a headlock trying to get her to the point of snapping her neck.
To say she gave in would be a huge lie. She writhed and twisted in my grasp trying to get out. Finally she brought her fist up and hit me in the face making me loosen my grip.
She rolled away from me and looked up then let out a noise of surprise and pain then slumped into the sand face first.
It was a huge relief to me when I saw Sam standing behind where Natasha was. Her rifle in hand and a furious look in her eyes, "No one hits my boyfriend. Well," She amended, "No one except me."
I was so shocked by her words I couldn't even speak for a moment then nodded slightly, "Y-Yeah..."
Sam aimed her rifle at Natasha's head with her finger on the trigger. I yelped, "No! Don't shoot her!"
Sam looked up at me puzzled, "Why? She tried killing us Rage and I sure as hell doubt she will stop."
She was right but for some reason, I didn't want Natasha to die. Maybe because I thought there was still some good in Natasha and that she was just under Avory's control.
Sam sighed when she saw my determined face, "Fine. Let's go. Asher and Cody are waiting at the oasis."
"An oasis?? Where?" I questioned.
"Just follow me idiot." An amused look crossed her face and I smiled a bit.
"Did you mean what you said? I mean...Calling me your boyfriend?"
She frowned, "Why wouldn't I? If I don't claim you now you might be stupid and find someone else. We can't have that can we?"
I laughed, "I suppose you're right. Can I tell you something?"
She nodded.
In and instant I was kissing her. Her lips tasted like sand. Sam stiffened for a moment but then began kissing me back. We were (quite) rudely interrupted by Natasha groaning and beginning to get up.
"Hell no bitch." Sam growled and kicked her in the face making her fall back onto the ground unconscious yet again.
"Come on. Let's go see the others." Sam muttered pulling me to this so called oasis.
Asher and Cody had most definitely found an oasis.
As soon as they saw Sam and I walking over holding hands, they began laughing and whispering.
I scowled, "What's so funny?"
Cody looked up amused, "Finally you two are together. Took you long enough."
Next to me, I could see Sam's face flush a bit, "Shut up."
My eyes narrowed, "Anyways, how much ammo do you have?"
Asher checked his rifle, "Umm four rounds and one in the chamber."
"Three rounds and one in the chamber." Cody said after Asher.
I checked my own pistol, "Well I have one last full clip and a knife I stole from Natasha."
"Whoa you saw Natasha?" Cody stared at me.
I nodded sighing, "Yup. Sam luckily took her out."
"Seriously??"
The looks on their faces were priceless but I wasn't feeling like laughing, "Let's just go to sleep. Asher you take first watch. Tomorrow we'll try finding a way out of the desert."
"I always get the worst jobs." Asher muttered.
It was a good thing it was hot, otherwise we would've frozen to death. We had no blankets and all I had on was boots, cargo pants, a tank top, and a black jacket that I had gotten off a dead guard. Yes I was going to get roast.
I walked over a spot under a tree and laid down on the grass staring up at the tree limbs.
When did I get this life? That thought just replayed in my head over and over until I finally fell asleep.

So in case you all don't know what an oasis is, it is a sort of lush green area in the middle of a desert. It has plants, grass, trees, and water. There aren't a lot of them actually but yeah.
