Camille's POV
"So let's talk." Steve sighed clutching onto my hand. "I obviously want to be with you, but I don't want to see you killing people."
"I know Cam, I'm not letting you have anything to do with my job."
"But why do you have to do this anyways? Why can't you just be a normal doctor or something?"
"Because it pays well, and I've been doing this for years. I can't just give up now. I'm already addicted to the flavor."
I cringed remembering how the meat tasted, it was wrong but it tasted very good. "Okay, I get it I guess, but just people never let me see blood on you or something. I don't want to think about what you're doing."
"I don't want you apart of this lifestyle. I'm selfish enough to want to keep you here, but I'd never show you anything that you didn't want."
That eased my mind a little knowing that Steve truly cared for me. That I just wasn't a piece of meat to him anymore. "What else is on your mind darling? I know you have more to say."
I sighed, "It's just that.. am I ever going to be able to leave this house? I mean you brought me here by drugging me, that's a crime. Of course I won't turn you in, but do you trust me to leave. I have a life out there."
Steve rubbed his thumb against my hand in deep thought. "I'm not going to trap you here, that's not right."
"But what?" I knew there was more to say.
"Your friend is very.. concerned for you, and I feel like she may get the truth from you."
"I'm not going to tell her, I promise!" I said quickly. I really want me and Steve to work, but if he never lets me out. I couldn't do it.
"Camille, trust me I know. But if she does find out, I can't let her keep roaming around."
My heart dropped, he wouldn't, would he? "Steve I swear to god, if you hurt her, I'm leaving. I don't care!"
"Camille.. shh," he cooed gently grabbing the side of my face. "Doing anything to her would be the last resort. You just have to make sure not to let anything slip, and to never bring her here. You got it?"
"I understand," I nodded. Although I love this man, he can still scare me at times, especially now threatening Cara. I have to protect her from him. "So you'll let me continue my normal life?"
"Yes darling," Steve said bringing his lips to mine, and give me a very soft kiss. "Let me go and grab your phone from our room.
He left me in a daze. Did he just say our room? This man did kidnap me and know we share a bed. Was this moving to fast?
"Here you go." Steve walked over and dropped my phone on the counter. The second I looked at Steve, I knew. I wouldn't change this for the world, I don't care how fast we are going.
I turned my phone on, and many messages from Cara popped up.
Are you ever going to send them?
Cam are you okay??
I swear if that Steve did something to you
CAMILLE!?!?!?I scrolled up at our previous messages to figure out what it was I was going to send her. "Hey Steve, did you text Cara from my phone?" Apparently I said we were in Cottage Grove, which I know I never sent. There was no service when I wanted to talk to her.
"Oh yeah," said Steve as he washed the dishes. "She kept spamming your phone. I had to give her some sort of an answer." I nodded quickly, before going to reply back to Cara.
Shit Cara!
I turned off my phone to just enjoy everything.
I didn't take any pictures but I'm back at Steve's house now.I attached a photo of Steve's back at the sink, and sent it to her. Giving her some sort of evidence will calm her down.
Girl fuck you
You know how worried I was?!
Come to my apartment right now
I need to have a word with you.I don't think I've seen Cara this mad at me before, and I haven't even seen her yet. "What's got you looking like that?" Asked Steve as he dries his hands on a towel.
"Cara's pissed at me right now for ghosting her," I sighed. "She wants me to go to her apartment so we can talk about where the hell I've been."
Steve but his bottom lip, "You can go over there, I don't want your friend to be even more mad at you."
"Wait seriously?!" I could tell by his body language that he didn't really want me to go. "I don't have to go if you don't trust me."
"Cam, the first thing about a relationship is trust. I saw how you broke down trying to kill me, I trust you."
I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. "Thank you Steve it means a lot. And I really am sorry about that little stunt."
Steve kissed my forehead then brought his arms around me. "I know you are. You were in a very vulnerable place. I don't blame you, it was a natural survival instinct."
I smiled looking up at him. "I should probably go get ready so Cara doesn't worry anymore."
"Of course, you can borrow some of my clothes since you don't really have any here. Stop by your apartment to get some."
"Will do." I left Steve's embrace, and went to our room. I still have to get used to that.
I ends up finding old sweatpants of Steve's that fit pretty well, and a shirt of his that was very big on me. It would have to do though.
"Want me to drive you there? Your car is still at your apartment," said Steve walking into the room.
"Oh shit yeah, that's fine. I'll just drive back here with my car."
"Sounds good. You ready?"
"Yep!"
Going into Steve's car made me feel a sense of deja vu. The last time I was here, which really wasn't that long ago, was when he was trying to lure me into his business. Now I'm willingly in the car with him, letting me free.
The drive went by faster than I thought. Before I knew it, we pulled up to the entrance of the apartment.
"Wish me luck," I laughed nervously getting out of the car. "See you tonight."
"Love you," said Steve before driving off. Here goes nothing.
