Camille's POV
"Lover boy's texting you again." I slowly woke up to the sound of Cara's voice. I turned around and saw her stand on my side of the bed, my phone in hand.
"It's like 7 am, why are you looking at my phone," I said groggily. She handed me my phone so that I could read the texts.
If you are available
would you like to go out
with me tonight?Cara smiled, "I had to pee. Now tell me what you are going to say!"
"Cara I have to work tonight, I can't," I said as I set my phone down on my bedside table.
"So tell him to come into the bar." Cara took my phone once again and handed it back to me.
"You know how bored Steve will be. I'm trying to save him from that." Cara looked at me like the was the stupidest person in the world. Here we go for a lecture.
"If he really liked you, he would be fine with watching you work," she said. "Plus you look hot behind the bar. Now tell him yes!"
I work tonight at a bar
but if you don't mind
you can come entertain me
at work."There happy now," I signed as I showed Cara my phone screen.
"Don't even act upset, I know you are dying inside right now of excitement." I tried to hold in my laugh, but like always, it failed me.
"Shut up," I laughed as I got out of bed. As I was walking into the kitchen, with Cara behind me, my phone buzzed.
"Oh, he's a fast replier." Cara started to make herself a coffee as I checked my messages.
Fine by me.
Just tell me the place and time
and I'll be there.I sent him the details of my work. It was a pretty good sign that he didn't care that I had to work. "He's going to come to the bar at six."
"See, nothing to worry about," Cara took a sip of her coffee before continuing. "And if you need me to recuse you because he's some sort of murderer, then just call me up. I bet I could beat his ass."
"Let's hope that won't happen," I replied nervously. I didn't even think about that.
"Yeah well you never know."

It was four o'clock, and I was getting ready for my shift. Usually I couldn't care less about the clothes I wore, but it was a lot different this time. This guy that I genuinely like is going to be there. I know I've only seen him one time but he's got me in some sort of chokehold.
I ended up picking out this black bodysuit, and medium wash jeans. I know it's basic but I look hot, so it doesn't matter. I let my hair rest as it naturally does, and put on my usual make up. Besides the eyeliner that I decided to put on for tonight.
By the time I was done getting ready, it was four forty. Which is perfect since the bar is about ten minutes away and my shift is at five.
Once I got to work I knew I was in for a treat. It was very busy, but I guess what you should expect for a Saturday night.
"Thank god you are here, these customers are very demanding right now," said my coworker Kayla as I went behind the bar.
"I can tell," I laughed. I started to help Kayla make drinks for everyone, and she wasn't lying when she said people we demanding.
As I was handing a drink to this girl, Kayla came up behind me. "Hey Camille, this guy is asking for you." I looked up at the clock and damn, it was already six.
"Okay! Be there in a sec!" I tried to make myself look presentable and started to walk over to Steve. We made eye contact as I was walking.
"Hi Steve!" I said as he sat down at a bar stool.
"Hey!" He said. "Not gonna lie, I didn't expect to see you as a person to work at this type of place."
"Yeah well, it is very entertaining," I said as I heard a guy call me over to take his order. "Sorry Steve, one sec."
I quickly took this guys order before going back to Steve. I did feel bad, this isn't an ideal hang out.
"You are just doing your job. No need to worry," he said.
"You want to go out on an actual date tomorrow?" I asked. "I don't have to work."
"Yeah of course." Steve didn't say anything else. He just stared at me, nothing else.
"Um okay." Not going to lie, that made me a little nervous. Not in a bad way though. "Want anything to drink?"
"Surprise me," he smiled. I nodded before going to work on his drink. He didn't seem like a fruit type of guy, so I started to make him some sort of whiskey concoction.
"Hopefully you like it." I handed him the drink and studied his face while he took a sip. It was neutral, didn't show much expression.
"That is.. very strong," he laughed. "Trying to get me drunk for something."
"Oh stop, not on the first day at least," I said with a smirk. "Do you like it though."
"Yeah it's pretty good."
"Good." Steve probably occupied me from working for a good hour. And the more him and I talked to each other, the harder I fell for him. He was a real charmer. And his smile, god.
"Okay Camille, I know you've got some fine ass guy talking to you, but quite slacking please! I'm dying over here," Kayla groaned.
"Coming!" I yelled. "You can stay if you want, but I should probably actually start working now."
"I'll leave shortly, but go do your job. I don't want to hold you back."
"Okay then, well I'll see you tomorrow," I said with a smile before going to the other side of the bar to help with Kayla. I turned back around quickly to see Steve still in his spot watching me. Cute.
••
The real date will be in the next chapter.
This was a taster chapter for the real deal.
Hopefully I am portraying Steve correctly.
Feedback is always appreciated!
