Camille's POV
I stared at Cara's door. I know I should be scared of her, but for once in my life, I truly am. I've never had her talk to me the way she did earlier before.
I hesitantly knock on her door, and almost instantly, I could hear movement from the other side. It only took a second before the door was yanked open.
"CAMILLE LEVINE!" Yelled Cara as the door opened. She attacked me with a hug, a really tight hug.
"Hi," I said sheepishly. I careful removed myself from her arms, and she stared me down.
"Come in," she smirked. "We have a lot to talk about."
I followed her inside and sat down at her dining room table. "Cara you don't have to be so formal," I said trying to ease the silence.
"I do when my best friend decides to ghost me one a trip with a guy I've never met before!"
"I just wanted to enjoy my time, I'm sorry I never responded. Plus I'm back now aren't I?" I tried to stay as calm as possible to make it look like I wasn't lying straight to her face.
"Just because you look fine doesn't mean you actually are." She grabbed my hand turning very serious. "If Steve is doing something to you and you can't get out. Please tell me."
I sighed and put my hand on top of our intertwined hands. "Steve hasn't done anything, I promise. I love him and I know he wouldn't do anything to hurt me."
Cara carefully watching me. I gave her a questioning look as to why she got all quiet. "Cara?" I asked.
"Did.. did you just say you love him?"
I bit my lip, "Uh, yeah I did." I knew exactly what she was gonna think. That everything was going to fast, and that I'm not thinking straight.
"You've known him for a couple weeks! You can't just love someone that fast!"
"Cara, here's the thing," I said. "You don't get attached to guys like I do, and I really care for Steve. I don't care how fast we are moving. I love him and that is that. You may not think the same way I do, but we can't control that. So please just be happy for me, and if something goes wrong, then you can say 'I told you so.'"
Cara cracked a smile, "I don't think I've ever seen you so serious before." She started to laugh and I sighed in relief. I'm glad I got my friend back.
"Hey! I just wanted to get that out there before you sit me down for another lecture!" I began to laugh with her. I couldn't survive without my best friend by my side.
"Okay but seriously, I need to meet this guy. I mean you're already in love with him and I haven't even seen him."
"Sometime this week we can go out, the three of us," I said causing Cara to glare at me.
"And there'd wheel, no thanks."
"Do you want to meet him or not?"
"I'm joking, I'll go. Maybe before then I can find myself a hot date do that I'm not alone."
"Yeah you do that," I laughed. "You could probably find a hot coworker."
"Oh yeah, there's this one guy I sit next to that's a total stud. Plus I think that he thinks I'm cute so maybe I will."
My eyes widened. "You know I only said that to see if you still had a job."
"You bitch!" Yelled Cara hitting my arm. "Yes, I still have a job. And I actually like it, so I'm keeping it!"
"Well I'm glad, you need something to keep you tame."
For the rest of the afternoon, Cara and I talked about random things. Like how Cara hates her neighbors, what we would want to do with Steve and maybe her date. Before I know it, it was four, and I knew I should be heading back home soon.
"Well it was nice to finally hear from you," said Cara as she walked me to her door.
"I'm sorry, I won't ghost you again," I laughed. We said our farewells and I left.
Cara's Apartment was just down the block from mine, so walking to it wouldn't be a big deal. I've done it many of times by myself.
Once I got home, I grabbed a bag and started to put my necessities in it. Who knew when I'd be back here. After I got everything, I quickly got into my car and texted Steve that I was on my way.
The drive to his house is a lot more boring when you are by yourself and have no one to talk to. But I eventually made it through, and just like that I was back home.
"Steve?" I called out as I opened the door.
"Hi," said Steve as he came up to me taking my bags from my hands.
"Thank you," I smiled kissing Steve.
"Anything for you." Steve took my bag up to our room, I followed.
"Cara wants to meet you," I blurted out.
Steve put my bag on the dresser and turned around to look at me. "Why do you seem so stressed about that?"
"Well I-I just thought you wouldn't want to. You know like cover yourself."
Steve just laughed and tilted my chin up to look at him. "Darling, I don't need to cover myself. I still live a normal life. I'll meet your friend, you don't need to worry about it."
I relaxed by him touch, "Okay.. so sometimes this week we'll have to go out with her and maybe a guy if she find ones."
"Okay." Steve captured my lips with his and fought for dominance. I let him take control and let him pick me up and place me one the bed.
God, I really do love this guy.
