July 2nd
I'm so excited! I just found out that in about two weeks my family and I are going to a lake house for the weekend in Vermont! I have always loved it in Vermont. When I was younger, we used to visit my grandparents who lived there and I always loved its natural beauty. It is so relaxing and peaceful. It will be the perfect place to take time for myself but also enjoy some family time.

The packing for our trip to Vermont began today and Mom was so stressed out. She wanted to make sure we have everything for when we leave tomorrow morning. She was running around double-checking her list every minute, worried she had missed something. Also, Mom was worried about our cat, Willow. Dad had to bring Willow to the kennel today because while we are gone, we need somebody to take care of her. Willow is 17 years old (which is so old for a cat!), and she needs her meds given to her every night. Mom and Dad's friends are also heading out of town this weekend so the only people available to help Willow were the people at the kennel. Willow seemed nervous though when Dad put her in the cage to bring her to the kennel this morning. She kept crying and scratching at the cage door miserably as if she was trying to escape. Mom was upset to see her leave in such a state. I'm sure she will be fine though. She will probably sleep most of the time we are gone anyways.

The day has finally come! My family and I just left our house and we are on our way to Vermont. I asked more about where the lakehouse was and what we were going to do there, and Dad told me that the house is located in a place called Lakeville, Vermont. He said that we would be fishing, swimming, boating, hiking, and doing whatever else we wanted to do! At the moment, a swim sounds very refreshing. The temperature outside is so hot and it is stuffy inside this car because the air conditioning does not work the best. However, since I can do nothing to change the situation, the best thing I can do is enjoy the ride. I think I'll take a nap and then start reading a new book I brought with me after.

12:45 PM

We just stopped for lunch at McDonald's in some random town in New Hampshire. It was good. Mom let me splurge and I got the Big Mac with a Coke and fries. I enjoyed it, but they forgot to take off the tomatoes. I hate tomatoes, they ruin everything in my humble opinion. It was fine though because I just took it off myself. Jamie got chicken nuggets and fries but she threw a fit because she wanted Wendy's chicken nuggets instead of McDonald's. Don't tell her, but McDonald's is better than Wendy's. Even their chicken nuggets are better.

2:10 PM
I have arrived! We just pulled up to the lakehouse and it is beautiful! Mom and Dad rented it out for the weekend so for a few days, the house is all ours! For our first afternoon here Dad wanted to go fishing with me. He says Vermont has a lot of good trout which makes me very excited because trout is my favorite kind of fish. Specifically, I love Rainbow trout. It is so colorful and reflective!

6:00 PM
Fishing with Dad was so fun! The lakehouse came with a boat and a dock so we were able to take the boat to go fishing. It was a pretty nice boat and it moved very smoothly over the water. The fishing itself was very successful and we managed to catch a few trout (including a rainbow trout!) and some salmon. For dinner, we decided that we would keep a few of the salmon and roast it over the fire. The fish was super yummy and juicy. We had it with a side of grilled veggies, and some buttery potatoes. I think when I get older I'll get a place of my own in Vermont with a boat so I can go fishing whenever I want.

8:00 PM

It has been a picture-perfect night. The temperature is warm with a slightly cool breeze, there is delicious food to feast on, and cherished time to be spent with family. I can not wait for our weekend here to truly begin tomorrow! There is so much to do and the adventures have already begun! Mom and Dad told me that tomorrow morning, we will be going on a morning hike. The plan is to have a picnic about halfway through our hike around lunchtime and then head back to the lake house afterward. They said that we would have a nice homemade dinner and then take a night swim to cool down after a long day. I was also told that on our last day here, there was a surprise in store for Jamie and me. I wonder what it is! Anyways, I am going to go read my new book to help decompress before I go to bed. A new day awaits!
