"So you have a crush on him?" Kiana eyed Jessica from head to toe, before nodding her head in approval.
"Yup. Not a big deal. It's a two day thing anyway."
Jessica stuffed her mouth with pancakes as she completed her assignments a minute before the deadline. Had the submission not been in online mode, she would have certainly missed the deadline. But that was not important. It had been two hours since her classes ended, and she only had one thing on her mind. Liam. She tried to suppress the thoughts that took over her mind every time she remembered him. Most of them gave her sweet butterflies, and, some, made her guilty of liking someone who was her teacher. She couldn't have such thoughts for a person who she was supposed to respect. But all of it was in vain. She wanted to see him again, talk to him again. And a part of her hoped they could be a thing. This thought, she threw away faster than it came. He would never like a someone like me.

"And the last one- Jessica Adams. I am done for day. Larry, wanna grab a drink?"
Liam asked his cousin, who also happened to be in the same university as him, but an year younger and with a different major. They were in Larry's room currently, where they usually would be if either of them did not have any plans, along with Andy and Brian, two of their mutual friends.
"No I got plans for later."
"With who?"
"Ah, there's this new guy called Ryan. Cool lad I must say. He had the highest SAT score for the year you know."
Liam looked at Larry with a knowing look. He got up to leave, not forgetting the golden words Larry needed to hear-
"Don't try anything Larry. Be a good boy."
Larry smirked at Liam as he patted his head like his dad. If Larry said he was interested in a person, that usually meant calling for trouble.
"Where you going to?"
"The library."
********************************************
"The library, my dear Kiana, would close in about forty-five minutes. Can we do this tomorrow for God's sake!?"
Jessica was not a night-owl. Her eyes began to droop low as soon as the clock hit nine, and it was almost nine twenty now. She could barely keep herself awake as Kiana pulled her along through the crowded pathway of the canteen which led to the library. Once they entered the library, Kiana finally looked back at Jessica-
"You might wanna sit down."
"Yeah. Go get your stuff done. I am here." Jessica mumbled as she pushed Kiana lightly trying to get her go away. She found herself a half- empty table and sat next to some guy she didn't care about. She put her head on the table in an attempt to take a few minutes power nap right there.
"Ms. Adams?"
The voice took away all of Jessica's sleep away in an instant. It was Liam. Suddenly, she was too conscious about the loose extra large t-shirt that she wore, and the shorts which ended up an inch above her knees, revealing light hair on her leg that had grown up since she last got them waxed. She hardly had the time to bath, forget about shaving her hair anywhere. She realized the little lip drool that had appeared at the side of her lips and quickly tried to wipe it away. Too bad, Liam had seen it all.
"You should get some sleep, I suggest, The library is about to close very soon. It isn't good for kids to stay out of their dorms this late." Liam said with a genuine smile on his face, as if, as if he really meant every word. Kids. He thinks you're a kid Jessica!
Jessica's heart sank as she thought more and more about it. Although she knew they were not meant to be a thing, this was probably not the way she had imagined all of her dreams to shatter. She took one glance at Liam, who had now gone back to reading his book. For a moment, she wanted to run her fingers all over his face. Feel every curve that made him look so surreal to her. She almost gave in to the temptation, but then quickly looked away pretending she never did what she did, or never thought was she thought. This happened quite a few times, as she tried to look at Liam, without him noticing. He looked, so much like a man. Her heart ached with the strong feeling of want that she had for him. But she was like a kid, yes.
Kiana came out with a pile of books to carry to her dorm and gestured Jessica to follow her back. She got up quickly and left together with Kiana.
A pair of eyes looked up to see her leave. Liam knew she kept looking at him, and being the 'dad' kind of guy he was, he knew she had a crush on him. It was nothing uncommon for girls of all age groups to admire him and try and hit on him. He did have a girlfriend, but that was years back in high school, and it was not a serious affair, the girl and him were now friends, and since her, Liam never really liked anyone. Jessica, as he thought of her, was a shy little woman who needed to break out of her shell. He had definitely seen better in terms of beauty, but maybe it was Jessica's anxiousness around people, that made his mind register her in a special way. There was something odd about it. He felt as if she was a little puppy, begging for his attention when she sat next to him before. And he, he wanted to give her attention- like a brother would to his sister. It was all strange to him. He definitely didn't like her as a girl. But there was something that just made him more and more intrigued to know her.
What is wrong with me?
Liam shook his head and went back to his book, While Jessica slept deeply after knowing she really had zero chances with her nth crush. Although she only tried her chances with one of them.
