Liam took Jessica for a long drive, that had lasted for more than five hours. Dusk was falling over as they headed towards the outskirts of some random city Jessica had never been to, through the roads that were surrounded by both trees and open stretches of grass, street lights that offered a glint to her eyes which was rather relaxing. This was the calmest she had felt in a while. A break from her rushed life. A much needed pause. Although a certain feeling seemed to be on the verge of exploding within her, she could not make out what it was. Next to her, Liam had his solace too, but it was not the beauty of the lights and roads that pleased him. It was who he had beside him.
"We had to go for a movie, remember?"
"Why? Are you not enjoying this?"
"I've never enjoyed something more than this in a while."
"Then fuck the movie."
It was about more than nine in the evening when Liam finally decided to park the car in a rather exquisite place.
"Are we having dinner here?" Liam simply nodded to Jessica's question. "Isn't it quite expensive for a simple dinner? We might as well go back and-"
Liam looked at her. "You are with a rich man Jessica." And then he walked towards the entrance of the place, leaving Jessica thinking for a while. She rolled her eyes and followed him.
"Are you flaunting your wealth, Mr. Anderson?"
"No. No, Jessica. I am trying to tell you that you can enjoy yourself for the evening without any thoughts about expenses. I am the sponsor for tonight. "
"Have no regrets, then." she smirked and let the night begin.

"I am done. Let's go back." Liam looked at Jessica, all amused as she finally got up to leave. "I'll wait by the car. Do not forget to pay for the food, Mr. Rich Man."
"I have already paid for it."
"You planned this?"
"Only when you said you wanted to go for a long drive."
"I should have known. With all the extra care we received here."
"How does one put so much food in a little space like yours?"
"Excuse me?"
"Your stomach cannot be big enough for all that food I believe."
"That I would like to keep a secret. I am leaving. Be quick because now I would be sleepy." A smile formed on Liam's face as he feasted his eyes on her walking away. He got up and followed Jessica to the parking lot, before he decided to change his mind.
"I am not driving tonight."
Jessica turned around to face him. "Are you tired?"
"Yeah. I need to relax. Maybe we could book a hotel or something." Liam suggested. He looked at Jessica who was looking rather suspiciously at him. "What?"
"I doubt your intentions, Mr. Anderson." Jessica joked; but Liam grew serious.
"I'll take it slow even if I have intentions. Anyway, I'll go get a few drinks."
I'll take it slow even if I have intentions. Jessica repeated in her head the words that she had just heard.
"I'll wait in the car." It was a low whisper that Jessica spoke in. The two of them looked at each other and a feeling fluttered in their hearts. It might have been those tingles when Jessica first had a crush on him. It might have been the intoxication Liam felt when he kissed her in the shop. It might have been something else. Regrets, maybe. There was something that one could not easily define. A feeling, an action, a word. Something that was waiting to be done, or said, or felt. "What intentions do you have?" It was an almost silent whisper, but Liam could hear every word of it.
"I don't know. Jessica. I don't know." Liam shook his head, as if in defiance of his own feelings. "I'll drop you to the hotel."
"Okay."
It took them not more than twenty minutes to reach a hotel which Liam deemed suitable for their stay. Exquisite again. Jessica liked all of it, except for the fact that it was someone else spending all the money. It was overwhelming with her feelings for Liam that kept tugging at her heart. She felt an attraction so strong she thought she might lose it all and do something irrational. He was walking in front of her, once they had checked in, leading her to her room. And she was all too aware, once again.
"Here you go."
"Where's your room?"
"I don't have. I-"
"You are going drinking?"
"Yeah. We'll head back tomorrow. It's weekend anyway." Liam waited for Jessica to say something and she did the same. "I'll get going, then." He took a few strides back, still facing Jessica whose expressions had now changed to that of disappointment.
"This is not what it should be."
Liam stopped in his tracks. "What are you talking about?"
"You are leaving me alone. It's just us two, I... I-" She took a deep breath and continued. "I do not expect you to ask me to be your girlfriend or whatever. But isn't it obvious that we came here together. You brought me here, how can you leave me all alone?" Jessica knew she sounded like a needy, possessive girlfriend to Liam. But she couldn't help it. Years had passed indeed, but the memories did not wane from her heart. Even she did not know the frustration that it had given rise to within her. All she knew that it was flowing out of her like pure water from glaciers that melt.
"Isn't it what you have been good at? Leaving people alone-"
"Let's talk inside Jessica." Liam gestured her to walk in the room and offered her some water. "I know you are angry. I was wrong. Years passing by do not make it right. I thought I was pressing you too hard."
Jessica chuckled humorously. " You always think for others, Liam. One should not think for others."
"I know."
"Larry told me. That you assumed it wouldn't work. Even though we hadn't tried. You could have told me! But you didn't. I did not love you, but I still had feelings for you. I would have not expected anything in the beginning if you hadn't shown that you might be interested too. I still cared for you. And then that happened. I thought you might say something when you see me with Ryan, again, you did not. Then I made it clear to myself. It's just a crush. Forget him. I started forgetting you. And then you were there all around me- in news, in the small talks people had, on social media. You were a phenomenon, Liam. It was something. I still did not think much of it. No hard feelings. And you decided to show up again. I thought it would be a small meet and greet ceremony. Yet, here we are. I don't know what I had expected. With you being right here, all that I felt years back, it's all resurfacing. And I don't know what to do about it. I... I want to kiss you. I want to hold you and touch you and feel you. I want you to be with me." She looked at Liam who was patiently waiting for her to finish. His unresponsiveness made her even more frustrated. "I know I am being shameless in admitting all of it. I don't know what you might think of me-"
"Kiss me." Jessica's heartbeat soared. She could barely manage to form words in reply to what she had heard, if she heard right.
"What-"
"Kiss me, Jessica. I want you to. I need you to." Liam held Jessica's face making her look straight into his eyes. She wanted to stay. She wanted to run away. She wanted to hide. And she wanted to show. An inner conflict had rustled in her heart. But Liam knew the answer to what he wanted. He kissed her first, but perhaps it was her who took the lead. They pulled each other in, the more they wanted to run away. And hands and hearts that have been restrained from feeling the touch of the one they needed, would not stop at a mere kiss.
"I want more. Liam... I.."
"I know."
Not a part was left untouched or unfelt or undiscovered as the two of them melted into each other. And what started with a lover's kiss, a passionate fire erupting from a volcano dormant for so long, ended up in a night of endless love.
