Third Person

Summer, oh how good it was to feel the hot sun on one's face, knowing that they forgot to put on sunscreen and their cheeks are going to literally melt and turn red as soon as they get home.

What amazing weather.

But the real amazing thing was the fact that the UA Sports Festival was making its return once again.

It happens every year yet the entirety of 2-A, as well as 2-B, were overly excited, very much ignoring Bakugou's request to let the other courses show off their strengths.

Why wouldn't they?! The ones who were yet in agencies wanted to show off so they can get scouted and the sports festival was the perfect place to do so!

Fatgum agency already had Tetsutetsu and Kirishima, so they couldn't afford to take in Ashido, Kaminari, and Sero just yet.

Which meant they needed to do well this year.

As much as Kaminari enjoyed working with Kamui, when Mountain Lady took over for him it felt different.

The role Sero and him held in the agency somehow became that of interns and when Mineta quit at the realization of who he was now going to be working under, they realized Mt. Lady was probably someone they didn't wanna sidekick for.

So here they were, the few hero course students allowed to participate due to not having an agency job.

Hatsume was fumbling with her equipment as she and Ashido talked about stuff that seemed to relate to gossip about the festival, Kaminari ignoring them right away.

Shinsou sighed as he looked around the crowd, some of his ex-classmates he considered acquaintances talking to him as he did.

He responded to their questions, thanked them for their 'good luck's and eventually departed from them as he watched Kaminari look around the crowd in slight fear.

"Hey, you okay?" Shinsou asked, putting a hand on the blond's head, playing with his hair a little.

Kaminari looked up at his purple-haired boyfriend and nodded with a forced smile, his eyes saddened.

"She's not here?" Shinsou asked, watching as Kaminari pulled out his phone.

Kaminari shook his head and held his breath for a bit after seeing the messages his sister had sent him.

Sorry, I can't make it.

I got grounded for sneaking out to meet you.

But I'll be sure to watch from home!

"Well that's bull," Shinsou stated, Kaminari stuffing his phone back into his pocket, "so far all I can think about your brother is that he's an absolute dickhead."

Kaminari chuckled softly, nodding as his gaze went back towards the crowd, watching as his stepmother waved at him and yelled him a 'good luck!'.

"At least she's here, right?" Shinsou nudged Kaminari, smiling at him, "she supports you as best she can."

"Yeah," Kaminari whispered with a genuine smile. He was thankful for his stepmom, he loved her loads and honestly, she was the only reason he decided to stay a part of the family after the dorms were built.

She singlehandedly held him together and she was the best mother she could be, even if she wasn't his biological parent and only met him when he was 10, she might as well had been.

"I'm gonna give my best for her!" he called out, pumping his fist, "and for Rei watching at home!"

"That's the spirit!" Shinsou yelled as excitedly as his boyfriend, the two sharing the small moment before they calmed down and got in line with the rest of 2-A that was participating, albeit it wasn't a lot of people.

*this is me going on a limb and making shit up so bear with me

Kaminari went through the large hall leading to the rest of the contestants. Currently, only the students from the hero course were there, Kaminari coming in 6th overall.

He made sure to thank Bakugou for the extensive training in his mind.

He felt the fabric around his chest unwrap as Shinsou let go of him, Sero complaining behind them as he ran towards them with Ashido gripping onto his back with terror from the last challenge.

Ashido was whispering something about how the school was crazy for making them go through a robot battlefield as the last challenge, to which Sero kept repeating the same answer to and eventually dropped her from his back.

Mina complained very loudly about the pain that was inflicted upon her from her fall, to which Sero answered with a fake apology.

The last 32 students eventually made their way through the hall, the scoreboard loading with the students' names as the teacher thought over the next game.
