Aizawa raced toward the central plaza, his mind quickly calculating the best course of action. "Hiroto's group should be able to handle themselves. Other than the shock of finding an actual victim in a training exercise, they don't seem to be in any immediate danger. The explosion in the Conflagration Zone is definitely a problem, but we have automated fire systems that can assist there. Only one of these situations is something that I am especially equipped for." He took a sharp right and headed towards the Downpour Zone. "A Nomu and an out-of-control Quirk- two things that I'm all too familiar with." He entered the enclosed training area and rushed toward the students' last known position. It didn't take long before the sounds of panicked screams lead him into the lobby of a nearby building.
"Yurei, stop! You're going too far!" Mahina's voice echoed through the building. Aizawa followed the cries down a hole, tucking and rolling as he hit the floor to keep running.
"I'm getting too old for this," he groaned as he forced his stiff limbs to their limits. As he entered a large, battle-scarred clearing, he froze in his tracks. He thought he had been prepared for anything, but this was something else entirely.
The Nomu was definitely not one of the school's artificial training versions. Those were specifically designed to mimic the durability and ferocity of the real creatures without using the grotesquely immoral creation methods of All For One and Dr. Garaki. This one did not bear any of the differentiators the school used in theirs. This one was wholly original, clearly cut from the same cloth as the originals.
And it was barely clinging onto its life as Yurei held it by the throat.
"Stop, please! Don't do this!" Aizawa looked off to the side to see Mahina and Megumi watching the scene unfold. Megumi appeared mostly indifferent to the events, but Mahina was clearly shaken by the ordeal. Both looked like they had been through some struggle, cuts and bruises adorning their skin where their torn uniforms exposed it.
"Are you two alright?" Aizawa asked, rushing to the girls' side.
"Mr Aizawa! Thank goodness!" Mahina said, tears streaming down her face. "You need to help Yurei! Please, he's out of control!"
"Not that that beast doesn't deserve what it's getting," Megumi replied flatly. While Aizawa wanted to pry further into that response, his attention was drawn to the pained howling of the Nomu as Yurei's grip tightened. The boy's red eyes glanced past his victim and toward his teacher.
"Oh, Mr Aizawa, how lovely for you to show up," the boy said with a grin. "I'm just wrapping up here, and then I can deal with you." A loud crack echoed through the chamber, followed by a thud as Yurei tossed the lifeless husk of the Nomu into the corner behind him.
Aizawa narrowed his eyes. "I'd tell Yurei that that's not how a hero acts, but I'm not talking to him right now, am I?"
The boy laughed. "I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less from our teacher. My name is Rayth, the unfortunate prisoner that is attached to that coward's Quirk."
"Release my student." Aizawa levelled his gaze at the malevolent being. "Now."
"But I thought your job was to bring out the potential in your students' Quirks," Rayth said mockingly. "I am the fullest potential of Yurei's Quirk. If you want to see what he's been holding back all this time, I'll happily give you a firsthand demonstration."
Aizawa let out a slightly exasperated sigh. "We don't have time for this. I'll have to do this the old-fashioned way." Aizawa's eyes began to glow red as his hair stood up. Almost instantaneously, his binding scarf was wrapped tightly around the boy, preventing him from moving.
"Oh, that's precious. You think these little ribbons can contain me?" Rayth's eyes glowed brighter as he grinned at the teacher, but then stopped, his smile quickly disappearing. "Why can't I phase through this. My powers . . . they're . . ."
