Side Story IV: 5 Years Without You

(An Elf: 5 years without you)

"Even now..." 5years had passed since the disappearance of the small boy. Ripples spread out from one end of Orario to the next. Days turned to weeks, weeks into months, months into years. They never found his body, the only way they knew he was gone?

The connection he held with a goddess he once called family.

As the elf continued to broom the dust away at the Benevolent Mistress, Syr, Chloe, and Anya could only move around the Elf, making sure to not bother the girl. These past few years, things had started to calm down. She wouldn't lash out as often, in the beginning, she was a natural disaster in the dungeon leaving countless bodies in her wake.

Of course, she wasn't killing people anymore, it was just monsters. She had taken out all of those Evilus remnants. Now that she focused on just monsters, more than ever, she realized she would never see the threshold known as level 5. She could only improve her technique, never her stats.

Many times, she had some people who realized she was Gale Wind try to kill her, she still had a bounty on her head after all. Yet, after 3 years, it seemed that everyone thought she had died, now that she was no longer hunting down monsters, nor Evilus.

She was purely working for Mama Mia, as a waitress at the Benevolent Mistress. Most of the time Mia had her on dishes because she was simply far too depressed. Eventually, she became how she was now.

"Ryuu, take the day off. Today's a slow day, it's that day after all." Ryuu looked at Mia with thankful eyes. "Is... Syr off as well?" Mia nodded as she sighed. "She's somewhere else, but... I'm sure you'll both end up at the same place by the end of it..." As such the young elf left for the city making her yearly trip around the city, gathering materials.

"The same Miss?" An incense was reached for by the Store attendant, "Yes, please." The attendant smiled sadly, she saw several people come by yearly, and each time it hurt, they always came for the same reason. "I bid you well Miss." Ryuu smiled at the attendant before leaving for her next destination.

As rain softly pelted the pavement around the girl. She brought out an umbrella, one that she had for years. It was the last reminder she had of him, from the night he saved her. As her feet pitter-pattered on the pavement full of puddles. Her gaze fell upon the back of 2 others, 2 people whom she had grown accustomed to talking to on this day.

One was her friend Syr, and the other was a member of Loki Familia. Ais Wallenstein, she had been one of the few members who continued to come. At first, it was the whole familia, then the executives, and then, just her. She was currently level 5, so she usually wouldn't even be allowed to leave as part of the executives.

But the guilt that Loki felt was far too great. She couldn't stop the girl from going, she couldn't imagine what Ais might do if she stopped her from this too. "Ryuu..." Syr whispered as she looked at her elven friend and the incense she had in hand. "Hello, Syr... Hello, Ais." Ais nodded her expression stoic.

Ryuu knew that she was grieving too, just that her form of grieving had caused her to revert to how she had been previously, a stoic porcelain doll. The only day that she showed any other sort of feature was when the day he disappeared came around.

They stood around the grave quietly, they used to say long speeches to the boy, explaining how their year had gone. However, after they met Hermes, they were unable to, they couldn't find the strength to do so.

That day, when he told them, that it was most likely that Bell committed Suicide in the dungeon, Hermes had shown them a piece of armor the young boy had gathered for himself.

Since that day, they simply mourned for him, rather than remind him of the world he left behind. Ryuu felt betrayed, she wanted to believe it was a lie. He had promised her after all, but as time passed, she accepted the reality of it.

Finally, they began to move, "do you guys want to go somewhere to eat?" Offered Syr, who was always the one who could talk to the both of them with ease. "I Can't... I have... An expedition." Syr smiled and nodded. "Good luck, come back safe." Ais let out a small smile, these two were the only ones who were able to see her smiles at this point.

Tione and Tiona had gotten closer to the girl, even the new girl Lefiya, however, none could break down her wall. The last time she let someone in, and let her heart love someone, she was betrayed, and left destroyed.

Little did they know, that fate was far crueler than they had ever imagined.

- In a Chamber underneath the Guild

"Ouranos... Is this really the only way?" A voice belonging to something that was no-longer human spoke from underneath a dark robe. "It is the right way." The god was obviously implying that this was not the only way, however, it seemed that the other routes. Were far too difficult to follow through with.

"Fels. Go ahead and wake him up. He's slept long enough, the clock has begun to tick in the dungeon." Ouranos gazed at the boy who had been put under a spell to sleep. "I can't believe you made me use your blood for something like this..." Fels muttered as he helped the boy wake up, dropping some blood into his mouth.

"After this... We shall witness the first spectacle that started all of this repeat itself, for one final time. We will have one final epic Fels, the epic of the Jester, the Fool, the Betrayed, the boy who was invisible to everyone around him."

Ouranos could see the gears beginning to strike true as life returned to the boy's body. "Bell Cranel. You must fulfill your destiny, no matter how terrible of a fate you will suffer." He watched as the boy rose his body gasping for breath, immediately he found himself running.

Ouranos simply watched, letting the boy continue on his way. "From here on out. I will no longer interfere directly." Fels could only sigh as Bell whose body grew along with him the past 5 years moved awkwardly from the years of being asleep.

"These are the first steps of our Argonaut Fels. The first step into a world without God's." Fels would never understand this God. Was he not the one who started it all? The one who brought everyone else down? Why would he want to end the age of Gods? Did he finally give up on Humanity?

No one but the old God knew that information.
