Chapter 8: (The Voice and the Rabbit)
- Greater Plains, 4 Years Ago
"Bete when you grow up, you'll want to think about what it is that your fang is. In our clan, we fight and rise for our position. However, don't think that's all there is to life." Bete who had just turned 12 was smirking at his father. "Of course, father!" He ran off with a girl of blonde hair, a girl so frail and weak that he felt the need to protect her at all times.
"Bete... What makes you want to become stronger?" The young werewolf could only slightly blush as he tried to think about what to tell the girl. 'S-Should I?' he thought about confessing there, but would she feel the same? Would he end up being rejected?
He stopped moving for a moment basking in the light breeze and warm sun. "I guess... I just don't want to lose what's close to me!" He smiled hoping that it was a good enough answer for the girl. Unknown to Bete she had the same feelings as him, however, both of them were far too dense.
"Don't worry! You're really strong Bete!"
That was a lie. A few days later the Beast King had unfortunately roamed into their village and killed everyone except for Bete. He had been buried under rubble, unconscious, however, when he awoke death was all he saw.
"Reene! Reene!" He cried out as he searched around until he found her trapped under some rubble. "Ah! Reene!" He felt hope as he reached her and lifted the rubble off of her. "Don't worry you'll be ok-!?" He stopped as he noticed she was long gone. Her lower body had been bitten clean off. "N-No..."
Bete looked around him blood dripping from the wound he had received near his eye. "Anyone..." He was uncharacteristically quiet, something not known to the Werewolf. In this land filled with death and blood, he was all alone it was the beginning of Vanangard the Lone Wolf of Catastrophe.
- 1 Week after Bell's Level up
Bell was currently sparring with Bete who was level 3, "Tch, is dodging all you can do!" Bete was a rough and vulgar fellow. All of the loss that he had suffered caused him to berate anyone who was weaker than him, after all, he didn't wish to associate himself with people who would die. Just like his previous Vice-Captain, she had gone on an expedition while Bete Defeated the King of Beasts.
Several of his familia members died including the vice-captain he was in a relationship with. "So weak!" Bete yelled out as he kicked Bell's flank and sent him flying back. Bell winced at the strength of a level three, but his stats weren't completely terrible after a week of growth.

"Is that all you got!" Bete lashed out as he sent another kick towards Bell, this time, however, Bell was able to parry the kick with his wooden sword and land a punch on the werewolf. "Ghg." Bete let out a grunt of pain from receiving a full brunt punch to his solar plexus. "Damn rabbit!" He snarled before the bell rang and the match was declared over.
