Lucy walked up to the big house she believed was the Rodriguez's. She knocked on the door. Mama came to the door.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Excuse me, Ma'am. Is this the home of Cameron Rodriguez?" Mama looked at this striking girl standing outside her house, asking for her daughter.
"Who are you?"
"Oh, my name is Lucy. I happen to be a big fan of your daughters," She held up an envelope. "I have some good news for her. I was hoping I could see her for a few minutes?"
Mama raised her eyebrow. "Cameron!" She yelled, opening the door to let this girl in. "You have a visitor!"
Lucy stepped into the Rodriguez home hearing the footsteps running down the stairs. Cameron stopped when she saw Lucy.
"Lucy? What? What are you doing here?" She glimpsed at her Mama as she came into the lounge, stopping in front of Laura's best friend.
"Hey. I was hoping we could talk?"
"Ah." Cam looked at her Mama for a moment. "I'm grounded, so..." She pointed to the couch. There was no way her Mama was going to let them be alone in her room.
"K." Lucy joined her on the couch.
"What? What's going on?" Cameron pursed her lips, kind of nervous this was about Laura.
"So..." Lucy glanced over at the kitchen bench, seeing Cameron's Mama watching them. She turned back to her. "Grounded huh? Is this because of Laura?" Cameron deflated a little at the sound of her name.
"Yeah. She's been gone for weeks, and I'm still grounded forever."
"Sorry." Lucy touched her leg. "Well, I hope I have some good news that will get you out of the house."
Cameron looked at the envelope in Lucy's hand.
Lucy smiled. "You know you were so amazing in that play that I actually came back every night because of you." Cameron caught the slight blush coming to her cheeks.
"Thanks." She smiled, kind of uncomfortable not sure how to take that.
Lucy grinned. "Don't worry, I'm not hitting on you yet." She winked. She held up the envelope.
"I'm a part-time talent scout for a friend of my dad's who works for a recording company based in LA." Lucy handed her the envelope. Cameron saw the logo on the front and her name. Her eyes widened.
"Two tickets to LA and a contract for a recording deal." Lucy leaned closer. "You're going to be a star." She smiled, raising her eyebrow. "If that's what you want."
Cameron's jaw dropped. She quickly ripped open the envelope. Her eye skimped over the letter.
"Mama!" She yelled over her shoulder, keeping her eyes on Lucy. "I have a recording contract!"
"What!" Mama ran over excited! Cameron handed her the letter. As her Mama read it over, Cameron looked at the girl before her, the happy tears coming to her eyes. She reached down for her hand, squeezing it.
"Lucy, I, I don't know how to thank you!" She cried, pulling her into a hug.
"Oh." Lucy welcomed the move from the cute girl. She smelt nice.
She blushed as she pulled back. "I just, like I said, you have a real talent, and the world needs to see it. I wanted to do this for you."
"Wow!" Cameron was in shock. "I don't know what to say! Ah..." She looked at her Mama dancing around the house with excitement. "Luc...ah, I don't know how to thank you!..."
Just then, Lucy grinned, flicking her eyebrow.
"I do..."

8 months later.

"You're gorgeous, babe; how bout you give me your number?" Lucy was hitting on the cute blonde girl on the other side of the barrier at the concert.
She waved her VIP pass, showing that she was someone important. "I promise you, you will have a good time."
"Luce!" She knitted her brow, hearing her boss's voice. The fans on the other side suddenly saw the pop singer heading towards them and started screaming.
"Oh my god!!"
"Damn it!" Lucy looked over her shoulder, seeing Cameron heading toward her.
"Hurry up, I'm due on in a minute."
"Oh my god!" The blonde's eyes fell on her. "Your...oh my god! I love you! Can I have a photo!"
"Sure." Cameron turned around, letting the girl take the selfie.
"Oh my god, you're amazing! And hot! Oh my god, I love you!"
"Love you too." Cameron smiled, noticing Lucy's frown. She quickly blew them a kiss, heading back towards the stage. Lucy followed behind her.
"I'm sick of this."
Cameron heard her muttering behind her.
"What?"
"You!" They walked together.
"Luce, she was into you."
"She was until you turned up! Jesus Cam, you're ruining my buzz!"
"That's not my fault! I can't help it if I'm amazing!" She winked, trying to get a smile out of her Assistant. "You're always telling me I'm amazing, um, hot as fuck and pretty fucken talented."
"Yeah, well, you should know I'm a good liar by now." She pouted as they headed up into the backstage area.
"Cameron, you're on in five."
"Thanks." She stopped and looked at her friend behind her, the clear frustration on her face.
She sighed. Lucy had stayed beside her ever since Laura left. She owed her so much.
"Do you need a break? If you need time off, I will find cover for you; anything you need just say."
Lucy rubbed her forehead. "No, no...I just..." Cameron smirked.
"You want me to hook you up?" Lucy looked at her a moment.
"How about I hook you up?"
Cameron saw the look. She pursed her lips, staying calm.
"You know I appreciate everything you've done for me, but that isn't going to happen."
Lucy wet her lips. "Okay with me then." She raised her eyebrow with a smirk. "Come on, you know we would be hot together!"
Cameron relaxed turning around to grab the mic handed to her. "Luce..." She looked back at her best friend. "Babe, you're gorgeous. Some lucky girl is going to find you irresistible and think you are the best thing in the world. Someone who won't give a shit who I am."
Lucy looked her over for a minute. "You deserve to be happy, Cam."
"I am." Cameron quickly chewed her lip before looking back at the stage.
"Please welcome to the stage our newest hot rising star... Cameron Rodriguez!"
"Here we go..." Cameron took a deep breath, smiling at her. She headed out onto the stage to a massive roar from the crowd.
Lucy stood there momentarily, watching her come alive before her fans. She smiled to herself.
They had been hanging out together for months now. And no matter how much she tried, Cameron wasn't letting herself move on from Laura. Her agent had been trying to set her up with some of the hottest young talents, but she kept shutting them down.
She had all these people around her that adored her but she kept them at arm's length. Lucy had seen her when she was alone...she was lost.
Lucy reached into her back pocket for her phone. She flicked through her text threads, seeing a text she got a few days ago. She sighed. Maybe it was time to fix this.
