"You've got a good nose." The handler commented five.

"You know, planting her in a psych ward, taking advantage of our simpleton brother. That was smart." Five said.

I shifted on my feet and had a wide stance now with my arms folded.

Were these two ever gonna stop complementing each other?

"Well the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." The handler said looking down and giving Lila a sympathetic look.

"She's your-" five and I said before the handler cut us off with an unexpected word.

"Daughter."

"Yes and she's my only one. So I'd appreciate it if you didn't crush her windpipe." The handler commented. Five put more pressure on Lila's throat but released his foot. Lila stood up and got in his face.

"I am so going to enjoy killing you someday." Lila said with a look of hatred on her face.

"Lila darling could you give us a minute, please?" Her mother asked.

"Yes the grownups need to talk." Five said with a smirk. I rolled my eyes but laughed under my breath. Lila rolled her eyes and walked past me giving me a glare, I just gave her a fake smile as she walked away.

"What it is you want?" Five said as soon as Lila was gone.

"Do you like jazz, five? Y/n?" The hander asked us. "No." I simply replied.

"I'd rather lick a cheese grater." He commented.

"Jazz is like a beautiful woman. Complex, emotional, hard to please. She doesn't just give it to you. She makes you work for it." The handler said walking around. I went to go sit on a crate and listen.

"I'm really going your going somewhere with this." Five said walking over by me. "Under my leadership, the commission would sound more like... jazz." She said mimicking a soft jazz rhythm.

"What about the board of directors?" I asked suddenly interested.

"We'll thats where you two come in." The handler said pointing at me and five.

"Nope." I said.

"No it isn't." Five said seeing what she was getting at.

"In exchange for the assassination of the board, I will get you and your family out of this timeline and back to 2019 where you belong." She said. I got off the crate. "We can go back?" I asked.

She nodded. "What about world war 3? That's due to kick off in a few days." Five asked.

"Once you and your siblings are gone that goes away." She answered. "And the apocalypse when we get back to 2019?" Five asked.

"That too." She replied.

"That easy?" I asked. "That easy." She said with a smile.

I didn't know if we could trust her but I wanted to go home.

"I distinctly remember you telling me that the apocalypse had to happen. That it was supposed to happen." Five said.

"Back then I was toeing the company line, but once I'm in charge. We can riff." She said mincing the same rhythm.

"Jazz." I said

"Exactly." She said walking around to face both me and five. "What about the board of directors? Hmm? I mean, nobody knows who they are." Five said running his hand through his hair.

"But once every fiscal quarter, they get together for a board meeting." She said. "Where?" I asked.

"The question is when. They meet somewhere in the timeline but never in the same place twice. The exact location and date of these board meetings is the most closely guarded secret in the commission." She explained.

"But you know where it is don't you." I said. "Would i be any good at what I do if I didn't?" She asked me.

"I need some time to think about it." Five said grabbing my wrist and walking away.

"Fine. But remember doomsday is right around the corner, and the way things are going I'm your only option." She said making five come to a stop and me with him. "Not yet you aren't." He scoffed. We disappeared.

Hey guys!! How did you like this chapter?

It's funny because it's been a while since I've written this book with y/n and her pov and situation that I had a hard time remembering how to do it.
