"Good luck, Kurapika!" Gon called out, vigorously waving at the blond's shrinking figure as he makes his way into the forest before us. 'I'll be next, I should focus on attaining my badge straight away.' I thought to myself, feeling a tight frown tug at the corners of my lips. Gon and Killua were chatting away, but I tuned them out as a ball of anxiety settled in the pit of my stomach.
"[Y/N], it's your turn!" Gon tugs at my hand, relieving me from my thoughts. The woman gripping the stopwatch looked at me expectantly, and I started toward the forest. I raise my hand and wave goodbye to Gon and the others, before disappearing from sight due to the thick forest. At once, I took to the trees; silently hopping from one branch to another in search of Hanzo. I knew I shouldn't use my Nen, but I wasn't keen on spending a week searching for the self-proclaimed ninja.
Stopping on a particularly large tree, I sat on a branch, unleashing my En. Instantly, I sensed eight others in my aura; all but two seemed unaware of it. Surprisingly, the magician and his pinhead friend stopped for a moment. What further astonished me was their ability to pinpoint my location; they started walking a few steps toward me.
'I'll have to get this over with quickly if I want to get out unscathed.'
Finally, I sensed a familiar build; deciding it must belong to Hanzo, I leaped from the tree and headed East. I concealed my presence as I approached his position, adrenaline starting to fill my chest.
'There he is.'
I crouched behind a relatively thick bush, occasionally peering out. There were two ways I could go about the process of stealing his badge; stealthily or openly. Hanzo seemed to be on pretty high alert, I figured announcing my presence ought to be better.
"Hanzo, right?" I posed, revealing my position. He whipped his head around, facing me head-on. At this, I flashed him a condescending smile, raising one eyebrow. "You've probably guessed it; I'm here to take your badge." I disclosed, my grin disappearing in a fraction of a second. The boy began rambling about training his whole life as a ninja, telling me he wouldn't want to hurt a girl; especially one younger than him. Clicking my tongue in annoyance, I began taking long strides heading for him.
"Hey, I don't want to hurt you!" He yelled, taking on a defensive stance. Keeping a stoic composure, I continued approaching. My confident demeanor seemed to make him realize I was serious, and a determined grin played out on his lips. He cried out a few more words about how I was going to regret this, before my irritation set in. "You talk too much."
With this, I launched forward. My rapid movement didn't seem to process in the ninja's head, and he let out a surprised grunt as I sent my palm flying toward his torso. He managed to stay on his feet and quickly turned to face me once more. His strange-looking eyebrows creased in concentration, and he sprung from his haunches; aiming for my feet.
