New York
Y/N POV
"There's a party tonight. I think I'm going to go. But I'm kinda nervous going without you here," I said. I was on a video chat call. Video chat? Video call? Hm. Anyway, a few people have been spreading the word about a med school student party. It is an event meant to gather the new students and meet new people. Of course it isn't just med students, because people always invite others. Word of mouth.
"You're definitely going bro. Maybe you should invite someone to go with you. Takes the edge off of that nervous feeling," Ellie suggested.
The friends I have are gone back to where they go for work or school. Except for Ariana, but I don't think I should bring a celebrity to a party of young people. People probably listen to her music and would recognize her.
"Who would I invite?" I asked her.
I could see Ellie taking some time to think it through. "Damn. A lot of people really have left you for education... including me. How about inviting Ariana?" She suggested. Surprising really because she doesn't really like Ariana anymore. Ellie has actually been slightly pissed that I decided to be friends with the singer. I recall her saying 'You dumbass' and 'Why are you such an idiot?'
"I don't think I could invite her. But, don't you hate her?" I asked.
"I don't hate... just have some disliking feelings towards her. She hurt you. Somehow you've remained friends with her which is so absurd.... But anyway, why won't you invite her," she responded. The first part sounded very bitter.
I explained the celebrity thing to her and she realized why. If you're around someone a decent amount, you tend to forget some things. In the case of being around a celebrity, it doesn't feel like they're a celebrity after a while.
"Well, you're still going and I'm going to make sure of it," Ellie informed me.
I questioned this response but she would definitely figure it out. Wonder what she has planned in her head.
________________________________________________________________________________I heard a knock on the door. I was set to go to the party, Gia and Paco were out with their separate plans involving work and a sleepover, respectively. "Who is it?" I yelled out while walking towards the door.
"Amandla," I heard. Oh! It's definitely bad that I forgot she was still here. But I'm going with the excuse that I didn't know where her and my best friend stand. Yes. Sure. Not a fair argument but sure.
I opened the door and she looked ready to go out. "I need to get rid of some stress and thoughts, and Ellie said I should drag you to a party," Amandla said.
Siding off from the current situation, Ellie said she still liked Amandla. Even though her feelings seemed very strong, she couldn't bear to give up an educational opportunity for a relationship. She felt that it was way too young to making those big decisions.
"I guess we're going partying," I said trying to sound excited. Partying, I am no partier. It's not bad but it's not great either. Not the way that many like their parties. My siblings would probably say that my ideal party thoughts were nerdy.
________________________________________________________________________________We were set into the atmosphere of the party. Like most parties, I am stood up awkwardly and trying to figure out what to do. I'm not drinking much tonight because honestly, I'm not huge on drinking. Might have gotten drunk a few times but it never gives satisfaction. So here I am, that awkward tree.
