A Golden Heart (Golden guard x reader)

previously: It was then I realized I'm gonna have to put up with this brat until my training is complete.

We walk through the narrow hallways, him leading and me following a few steps behind him. The walk is very awkward to say the least. We mostly walk in silence with the exception of him stopping to say the names of certain rooms. Weirdly something about him seems familiar but I can put my finger on it. Something about his demeanor and his annoying voice seem like someone I met before but I don't know who.

Suddenly his fast paced walking cam to a stop right in front of a two large doors.

"This is the training room, here I will test your magical ability" he says. he leads me into a large room with a few mats and other training equipment. I stare at the room in amazment taking in every inch of the walls and the high ceiling. Suddenly blast of red magic shoots at me rapidly.

"AHHH WHAT THE HELL" I yell at him while gripping on to my arm that had just been struck by his sudden attack.

"Be prepared next time" He says while looking down at me. I glare back at him, he probably can't see me because of my uniform mask, but I still want him to see my clear annoyance. Who the hell does he think he is? I make a small circle with my finger right next to my wound and it quickly heals. Right after I finish attending to my cut I turn to the golden guard and draw a big light green circle not even a second later huge rocks come up from the ground and push him to the wall. 

When he tries to get up I make another circle and an abomination forms and is about to stomp on him, but he quickly gets up and starts zapping rad blasts of energy at the abomination and me. Everytime he shoots at me I am only just barely able to dodge it. For a few more minutes we continue like this, him shooting at me with his staff and me trying to block with whatever I could think of on the spot. I am focusing on creating a large abomination when I feel something zap my stomach and push me to the ground.

"You can fight, but you still need a lot of work" He says. Even though he has a mask on I could tell that there was most likely a dumb smirk plastered on his face. He holds out a hand to help me up but I push myself off the ground myself.

"You can go back to your quarters your next training session will be later today" he says coldly as he walks in the oppisite direction.

Ugh what an arrogant jerk. 

I can't help but think he might be right, maybe I do need a lot of work. Being the top student at Hexside doesn't mean anything if I still can't make it far in the emperors coven. At least when I got here I was able to finally away from all of my "friends" and family. There were a few people at Hexside who said we were friends but I never considered them to be anything more that classmates. My classmates were never the real problem though. I was fed up with my parents. Nothing I did could ever suffice. 

Just as I was getting caught up in my resentful thoughts I bump into someone. It was Lilith, one of the top coven officials. 

"Oh my titan, I am so sorry" I say as I close my eyes and take a deep bow. I cautiously look back up at her and she softly smiles at me.

"You're the new recruit Y/n L/n correct?" She says in a tired but kind voice. I nod and look up at her amazed. I didn't realize that anyone would recognize me.

"The emperor says you have potential, I'm looking forward to 'the titan's plan for you'" She pauses for a second I'm not sure why though "I'll see you around the castle" she says with a smile then walks off.

I walk down the hall a bit more until I get to my room. As soon as I enter I flop on my bed and take off my silver mask. 

I realize that I have a few hours before I have to meet the golden guard for more training so I take off my uniform and get into casual clothes to go out in town. 

Once I am able to sneak out of the castle I head to bonesborough. I forgot how lively this small city was. Everywhere I turn I see a traveling merchant or a bard with a crowd around them. I never realized how amazing bonesborough was. I guess when I was younger I never took time to have any fun. 

I see a small stand selling ice cream and rush over. As I walk up to the stand I see a familiar face, it's the annoying guy from last night. I quickly get my ice cream and run over to him. 

Hunter Pov:

"Hey, you" I hear someone say, and suddenly another witch jumps right in front of me. I look at them for a second and recognize them. It's the witch who called me a little rat yesterday. I look at them with an annoyed stare.

"What do you want" I say coldly. I am about to walk away when I feel them grab my arm and pull me back to face them.

"I wanted to ask, well- uh" they take a deep breath "Well I just joined the coven and I don't know anyone else here that is around my age, and it would be nice to have someone to talk to" I look at them in disbelief, yesterday they were so rude but now they seem nervous. It's actually quite funny how much their attitude has changed. I let out a small laugh.  They look at me with a slightly irritated pout.

"Are you mocking me?" They say. 

"No, but I we could be friends if that was what you were asking" I say with an amused smile. They turn their head away from me.

"I guess so, see you later" They mumble. They quickly walk off. It's nice to have someone in the coven my age who isn't Y/n. I don't know why but they seem to hate me.

Hiiii thx for reading, btw I forgot to mention this in the first chapter but Y/n's official coven uniform has a mask so they don't know who eachother are.
