Previously: When I wrap my arms around him, he feels like home.

---------------------------------------------------

"How are you doing?," I open my mouth to speak but before I can say anything he continues, "and tell me how you're really doing."

"My parents are here tonight" I say, wiping off a tear that had fallen down my face.

"You never told me much about your parents"

"There isn't much to tell" I take a step back and lean on the balcony railing. "I feel like they robbed me" I take a deep breath to try to prevent tears from spilling out.

"Of what"

"Being a kid." Deep breaths "You have no idea what it took to get here, so many sleepless nights, missed opportunities, my whole childhood feels like it wasn't even there" I can't help it now; the tears run down my face .

"I'm-" Hunter starts

"I gave everything to be here, just to find out how corrupted, and twisted it is"

Hunter pov:

Their eyes look downward and their mouth turns to a disgusted frown. I've never heard anyone in the coven talk about the coven that way.

"Were your parents the ones who made that happen?" I ask

"They threatened to disown me Hunter." They address me but they are looking at the ground, their face has gone pale; their eyebrows are furrowed. They look horrified, like they are replaying a specific memory in their head.

I bring my hand to their face, and wipe their tears. "I thought I would never see them again" they say, this time they do look at me. I move my hand to theirs and let our fingers intertwine.

"What do you want to do about it?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well we can't exactly stay out here forever."

"You did; before I came out here you were just out here the whole time"

"You got here late"

"Please don't make me go out there," they say "I never liked the phrase, face your fears"

"Okay, you don't have to, but I'm going back before it starts getting suspicious" I reply. I let go of their hand and make my way back into the castle. The warmth of their touch lingers in my hand.

I get into the ballroom, and almost immediately, Belos grips my arm and pulls me aside.

"Where were you?" he whispers, seething with anger, but just quiet enough for no one to hear.

"I was just" I don't know if anything I say will make him calm down; in fact no after what I say, I am almost certain he will get angrier.

"Answer me"

"I needed some fresh air" partly true

"I don't have time for your games Hunter," He down looks at me "Just find Y/n and get them out here" I look at up at him "now"

I walk to the balcony with a million thoughts in my mind. I don't want to force them to do something they don't want to do, but I don't even want to think about Belos taking his anger out on them.

I step onto the balcony. "Back already?" Y/n says, lifting their head to look at me.

"You need to come inside" I say. It comes off more stern than I would have liked.

"I'm not going in there Hunter," The turn their head down again "I can't"

"I'm serious, Y/n, Belos is not happy"
