"I guess so, see you later" They mumble. They quickly walk off. It's nice to have someone in the coven my age who isn't Y/n. I don't know why but they seem to hate me.

Y/n pov:

It's been a few days since I saw that boy with the blonde hair. He never told me his name but I'm sure I'll see him sometime soon. It is nice that we are on good terms now. I think I'd die if I had to spend one more moment with the golden brat.

PING

I hear my scroll ring and go to look at it. I open the message to see that it's from the old Hexide healing track groupchat. I roll my eyes.

"I thought I left that groupchat a while ago" I mumble to myself.

Bo:

Heyyyy you guys want to get boba after school?

Please 🥲

Cat:

i'll be there <3

Viney:

I'll come too.

 What about you Y/n? I know you have work but you can tag along if you want

I stare at my scroll not knowing what to say, and as the day goes on the other girls from the healing track keep asking me to meet with them. It's just one afternoon you can tolerate them. I say to myself

Y/n

I guess I can come see ya there

I put away my scroll before going to my closet to pick an outfit.

I like to think that in the week I've been staying at the emperors castle I've gotten pretty good of sneaking out. I only get one day off all year, but since I'm still in training I have free time to do what I want as long as I stay in the castle. I obviously don't follow hat rule though.

I wander through the streets of bonesburough, taking in all of the beautiful sights, the large unique city never fails to amaze me.

"Y/N OVER HERE!" I hear someone call my name I look over to see 5 other girls, all in dark blue uniforms. I recognized all of them except I saw something that caught my eye. Viney no longer had an all blue uniform, she still had blue sleeves but now she had orange pants, meaning she was in two tracks?

"Y/n! hiiii" One girl said while coming up to the nervous teen.

"Hows life in the emperors coven??" Another girl asked eagerly.

"Class is so weird without our top student!" One after the other they all surrounded Y/n excitedly. They had no negative intentions of course, but Y/n had no energy and felt overwhelmed.

An hour later after all of us finished our drinks they still have so much energy. I check my watch and see it is still 2 hours before I have to meet up with the golden brat for training. I figure I should start conversation to be polite.

"Uh Viney, whats with the different uniform colors?" I think Viney is the best one to make conversation with because she was always more chill than everyone, we were never very close though.

"I'm in healing and beastkeeping now, ever since the human came, we can be in multiple tracks great right" She says happily. I am speechless. There is a human on the Isles?

"Oh uh nice" I say awkwardly I am still shocked that a human is in the isles and studying magic.

"So Y/n~ any cute people in the coven?" Cat abruptly interrupts. I look around at all the girls, who are now looking at me with curiosity. As I am glancing at all of them a pair of deep magenta eyes catches my eye. Thank titan.

"Yes actually," I point at the boy with the blonde hair "And thats my boyfriend, so I gotta go sorry-!" I nervously say while running to catch up with the blonde. I grab his hand and anxiously walk off.

Hunter pov:

I walk through town enjoying my peaceful afternoon before I have to do more training. Suddenly I feel someone grab my hand and start walking with me. I look down to see the e/c eyed coven recruit. I tense up from their touch.

"What are you doing?" I say looking down at their hand in mine.

"Please just play along until they leave" They mutter while looking up at me. I chuckle softly and nod. We walk together hand in hand all throughout central city. Suddenly Y/n looks all around them to see the girls were no longer with them. They let out a sigh of releif and let go of my hand. 

"Thanks so much for helping me uh-" they took a long pause "What is your name anyway? I didn't ask yesterday" They ask. I hesitate for a minute. 

"Uh- my name is Hunter" I say through a slightly uncomfortable smile. I'm not used to being called by my first name by anyone other than belos. 

"What's your job in the palace?" They ask. I didn't want them to know I was the golden guard. I just want to be treated like any other teen in the castle, not like a superior. 

"Oh, well I'm just a standard scout, but I'm still young so I'm hoping to climb up the ranks" I answer. 

"What about you what is your name and job?" I smile.

Y/n pov:

When I heard him ask for my name and job I panicked. I know that there are already rumors around The golden guard and his new mentee. I didn't want him to know that that was me.

"I only joined recently so I'm just a standard scout too" I say praying that he can't tell I'm lying, "And my friends call me n/n at least they would if I had any friends." I laugh.

We spent the next little while walking around town, eating street food, and having fun with each other until we both have to go back.

As soon as we get to the castle we part ways to go to our rooms. After he leaves I practically sprint to my room to get in uniform and be in the training room with the golden guard in time. I quickly slip into uniform and put my silver mask over my face. 

I step into the training room still trying to catch my breath from rushing over there. The golden guard was already there waiting for me.

"Sorry I'm late I-I uh lost track of time" I say out of breath and trying to make sure he didn't find out I had snuck out of the castle.

"Okay, Y/n just be in time next for the rest of our training sessions" He said in a monotone voice. I was relieved that he wasn't too mean. 

Little did either of them know that the time they spent together was exactly what they were hiding from each other.
