Y/n Pov:

I sit in my uncomfortable bed, reading under the low light of the early morning sun. I hear a faint tap on my window and see a small brown sparrow holding a small envelope. My beast keeping magic has really been coming in handy lately, with all the back and forth letters between me and Hunter. 

I open my window and let the small bird come in. She drops the letter and sits on my desk. I open the envelope to read the letter.

Dear N/n

I need your help today. You must get rid of this letter immediately after reading. For reasons I can't elaborate on, I need this book. It is restricted from the library in the castle, and can only be found in the forbidden section of the bonesborough library. It is called 'Bones to Earth: A Study of Wild Magic'. I will explain more later please meet me at the library at midnight, I will be waiting.

I smile at his note and begin to make preparations for tonight. But a question still lingers in my mind. Why is he studying wild magic?

Right before leaving my room in the dead of night to go see Hunter, I catch a glimpse of his letter on my desk. As much as I dont want to do it, I take out a small match and light a candle. I carefully light the the letter ablaze. 

I should have burnt the letter earlier because now I am late, and I hate being late. I rush through the night market in the direction of the library.

The night market is bustling with activity, many looking to do illegal trades, some selling rare items, and I in the midst of it all. Even as I rush through crowds and push past any witch or demon in my way, some still try to stop me and offer their... disturbing bargains. 

After what felt like forever of running under the dim lights of the night market, I saw him. Hunter was leaning against the outside wall of the library. 

When I got to him I was all out of breath, although I couldn't tell if it was because I just ran past the entire night market, or because he was standing so close.

"Hi" he says. He is smiling at me. I smile back.

"Hi" I say. I look at the library and I look at him. "You ready?"

"Yeah" He nods and we start making our way to the library.  He uses some kind of spell to unlock the door and we slowly and cautiously walk into the lobby. Each wall is filled from head to toe with books of every different genre. The low light of the moon pours into the lobby. Even our quiet footsteps echo through the large room. 

When we get to the back of the library we find the "forbidden stacks" section and walk inside.

If I thought the lobby was dark and mysterious this is a whole new level. Spiderwebs are in every corner and rats scurry around our feet. We creep through aisles and aisles of books. Each and every book is filled with dust. 

We walk through halls and he stops suddenly, I kept walking until he grabbed my hand and pulled me back to where he was standing. If I hadn't put my hand over my mouth I would have shouted in surprise due to his sudden touch. He points to a sign that says "Wild Magic". We look through the shelves scanning every title in search for "Bones to Earth". 

Hunter taps my shoulder to get my attention and shows me a book. Its the book he was talking about.  I give him a thumbs up and we make our way to the exit.

Hunter Pov:

 N/n and I  rush out of the library and almost step outside before we  see the pouring boiling rain. We look at each other, we both came unprepared.

"Um well" N/n paused "I'm sure we can figure something out". Their nervous smile was a dead giveaway that they had no idea what to do.

"Can't you just cast a spell that'll protect the two of us until we get back to the castle?" I said.

" I could but I don't know if I'll be able to cast a spell big enough for both of us and have it stay for the walk back to the castle."

"I see," I looked off for a second before turning back to Y/n " I guess we'll just make the spell smaller and we will just have to be close together." Their face flushes and they nod. 

They draw the spell circle and a green shield like thing covers our heads. I quickly grab their hand and we run as fast as we can through the town. The night market is a bit less crowded no doubtably because people want to get out of the rain. I am holding their hand tightly as we race all over the small city under the boiling rain. While making a sudden turn, I trip and almost fall over and take N/n with me. 

"AAGH" I yelled as I tried to get my self stable on my feet again. They start to laugh and I laugh with them and we laugh together all the way back.

We get back to the castle and as always have to part ways, but right before we go our separate ways they stop me. They gesture for me to lean down so they can whisper something in my ear. Probably to make sure no one hears us.

"Thanks I-" They stop, leaving their last words unspoken. I suddenly feel a peck on my cheek and turn back to see N/n's red face. "Bye now!" They say walking away. I hear them muttering under their breath and facepalming before I start to head to my room. 

When I get to my room I take my book out of my bag and get ready for bed. I wish I could fall asleep though. I wish I could fall asleep so I could stop thinking about N/n. I picture them looking through all the books, I picture us laughing and running through the rain, I picture how much I was probably blushing when I felt their kiss on my cheek.

When they are around, I can't think straight. Their lies disappear and I can only focus on them.
