VALENTINA'S POV
Sprinting down the never-ending halls, I didn't slow down when I heard Francis calling for me, my laughs echoing off the walls as I run past them.
My feet are light on the ground as I turn a sharp corner and slip into a room, with a door slightly ajar. The light in the room is dim, but I could see around it perfectly and my heart flutters I lean to close the door with my back, hearing Francis run past the door quickly and I finally let out a deep breath.
His room was still as messy as ever, but it was still the same and my smile widened as I walk around the room, eyeing all the insignificant, little details. I step forward and lay my stomach on his plush bed and bury my head in the pillow at the head of the bed and inhale the smell of Francis. It smelt like the salty wind that blew in the sky and the musky cologne that he would always cover himself in; the two smelled like heaven when put together.
My eyes droop with comfort as I get more comfortable on the bed. I bathe in the smell before I realise that my pride was on the line as Francis was hunting me down, so I lazily lift my head from the pillow and roll out of bed and stand to face the balcony door that is cracked open, making the patter of the rain outside louder.
I step outside into the rain and the wave of my hair flattens against my body, along with my dress.
My head tilts up to the cloudy sky and a smile taints my lips with the water pouring onto me.
This was what completion felt like.Being so caught up in the scenery, my guard was lowered but it spiked when I felt a warm presence behind me before a body pressed against my back, both of us moulding together and trapping me between him and the balcony railing.
"Looks like I found you..." he teased breathlessly, and I could feel his eyes drooling over my wet body.
He puts his hands were placed on my hips. I shrug my shoulders innocently as I turn to face him and see his hungry eyes but I wasn't too keen to give up yet.
Using the slippery marble to my advantage I slid onto the railing, propping myself to look down at Francis, much to his delight.
I leaned forward, and closer and closer to his lips, fooling him into doing the same until at the last moment.I flicked my head back, making my body fall off the ledge. He calls out my name but the sound is blocked by the sound of feathers filling the air around me as I spread my wings.
I fixed my posture and looked upwards, making myself shoot into the sky, and when I look back, his large raven wings are already visible as he eyes me from the balcony
Shooting through the sky, I was soon out of vision of the mansion and glided across the forest unravelling my worries as the water presses itself against me more as I shiver from the cold.
I glide in relaxation and hum to myself, matching the sound of the rain. Thunder crackers and the hairs of my neck stand up. I almost miss the sound of wings behind me, but when I turn around- there was nothing. My eyebrows knit together as I hear another sound but again, I was greeted with an empty sky. I was about to call out until a presence appeared above me before they swooped down and caught me mid-air.
A laugh was brought out of my mouth as he hugs me tightly. He rests his head on the crook of my neck and I could feel his lips mumbling onto my skin.
"This game of cat and mouse is over." He orders and I stroke his hair as if to agree with him.Our wings fall in sync as we stay in the sky longer and the lips on my neck soon move to my ear as Francis whispers. "Close your eyes, my love."
He says it without a hint of emotion, making me hesitate as I do. He lets go of me after I close my eyes, a shiver crawls up my spine from the sudden surge of wind passing by me before it becomes silent, there's only the flutter of my wings to be heard, and when I tried to listen for his, his couldn't be heard.
I called out his name and he didn't answer as the second gust of wind blew past me, my eyes opened fiercely, but it felt as if everything slowed down once I did.
He hovered in front of me, slightly lower in the sky and if to be bending and in his hand that is put out to me, it holds a box with a small ring inside.
In shock, I stare at it for a while, not knowing what to do or say, but stare at the ring and him.
I could see the hesitation on his face as he opened his mouth."Valentina Rider, will you officially be my wife?" He says, his eyes silently pleading with me, and I stare at him, still frozen in shock but it snaps in me within seconds.
I swoop into his arms and wrap mine around his neck as tears well in my eyes.
"Yes," I whisper, repeating the words over and over. "Yes, yes, yes..."
He felt his hand palm the box as the other takes my hand to slide the ring onto my finger. The metal felt amazing next to my skin and as he finished placing it, he returns his attention to me completely, pushing his lips against mine tenderly.
The cold from recently was diminished as his warm body encases me along with his breaths that caresses my cheeks when he pulls away from the kiss and starts to smother me in them, crawling down my face to my neck and collarbone.
Our laughs echo through the sky and I bring his forehead to mine as I look him in the eyes lovingly and my hands cup each side of his faces and a toothy grin spread across my face.
"I love you,"
"Not more than me, Angel"
