VALENTINA'S POVToday is the day.
The day that I can escape this horrible place.
I've never been happy here.
And even if I have been it would be wrong. So wrong.
I can't stay here, with Quinn, Xavier, or Francis. It was wrong to stay here with criminals. And I needed to escape.
How convenient that Francis is going away today too.
I weakly sat up, as Xavier entered with a plate of fluffy pancakes with strawberries and cream on top. I weakly smiled as he put the plate beside me and stood there, as his eyes scanned my dull face and narrowed his eyes at me.
"What's wrong?" he asked curiously, raising an eyebrow.
Letting out a weak chuckle, I waved my hand slightly. "Rough night." I sighed, trying to reassure him but he didn't seem convinced. His eyes lit up with what looked like a thought, the corners of his mouth tugged up and looked at me, humour dancing in his eyes.
"You're going to miss him aren't you" he teased, and I could feel my heart sinking even deeper now.
Looking out the window, I see people preparing the vans, loading them with weapons. I looked back at Xavier and gave my best smile.
"Yep." I sighed and stopped poking at my pancakes and ate them instead.
He nodded, looking content and did a little bow before walking out.
"We'll be back by night," he stated before completely closing the door, and I was left by myself.
From what I'd gathered, all Francis's best members were going to be there, along with himself. But I will still have high-end guards outside my door.
I know how to lure them away from me and trap them. They're leaving at ten o'clock, so I have a few minutes to get ready.
Even though my window was placed on the side of the building, the driveway was huge, so I had a good view of the whole scene.
I sighed as I placed my pancakes down and went to my wardrobe to look for things to pack. Clothes and water; that was all I needed. I got dressed in a grey hoodie and leggings, then some sneakers.
As I leaned back on the pillar of my old bed, I took a deep breath in and out. The outside was silent and as I side glanced out the window, I could see all the cars were gone from the driveway, only some remaining given the winding road.
As the air was thick with my stress and silence, I could hear the men talking to each other and I walked over to the door, placing my ear on it to hear better.
"Boss said that she might try running for it so when she comes out, one of us has to be beside her at all times," one grunted and the other mumbled in agreement.
Action time.
I creak the door open, and they both jump but relax as they saw it was just a small girl.
'How much harm could she do?'
"Sorry, but I'm going to have a shower, just a few more minutes until we go," I say and they both look at each other, then back at me. Still wondering whether they could let their guard down yet and I put both of my hands up jokingly.
"Don't worry, I can't escape. All of the windows are locked!" I joke but after that, it was silent again. They were both standing there and eying me up and down, so I ended up just leaving without saying anything else. It's obvious they don't know what to think of me, but I intend to keep it that way.
