"Can you explain to me again why am I here?"
Soobin rolls his eyes dramatically but never loses focus on the game that was happening right in front of him.
"Because neither Yeonjun nor Kai could come so I invited you and you said yes."
"I only agreed because you promised you would buy me lunch afterward. Didn't know it was Beomgyu's game tho..."
The blonde boy observes as Beomgyu runs through the field with precision, a blue sports hairband holding his long black locks away from his face and his blue shirt with the number 13 written on the back covered in sweat. Everything seems to be flowing perfectly, Beomgyu had scored two points not so long ago and his team currently had the ball. And Taehyun doesn't get time to blink because Beomgyu suddenly makes another two points, encouraging the crowd, including Soobin, to get up and cheer loudly, startling the blonde boy that just shrank in his seat.
"You really like him," Taehyun states when Soobin returns to sit down.
"I guess I like him a little bit, but I definitely prefer basketball," Soobin says in a playful tone, grinning in the ravenette's direction, but Taehyun spots a hint of affection in the older's eyes.
"I don't know how you do it."
"Do what?"
"You know, staying with him, talking to him, attending his games, being friends with him in general," Taehyun says while shaking his head incredulously "You're the only one and I don't get how can you be friends with somebody so dark and grumpy like him."
"It's not just me, Yeonjun tries to get along with him sometimes and it works!" Soobin says, still paying attention to the game "Huening Kai too. I think Gyu is starting to get more social this year and it's all thanks to you."
"Me?" Taehyun cocks his eyebrow in his direction "All he does is rolls his eyes at me and call me shitty names."
"Exactly. He's finally communicating with someone other than me. Before you came to this university he wouldn't even say a single word to Yeonjun. And now they greet each other in the mornings! Not to mention that he always has something to say to you. He's changed!"
Taehyun cringed "You're lying. I can't even visualize a world where Beomgyu doesn't insult other people."
"But it's true. He's much better now."
Soobin's smile starts to fade as he switches his attention to what was happening on the field. Their university team was winning for far many points and there were only ten seconds left for the ending of the game. But that surely didn't stop Beomgyu from making one more point. Everybody in the crowd watches in amusement as the black-haired male dribbled the ball across the field and scored one last point before the ending noise.
Taehyun felt small when everyone around him stood up and cheered, some of the girls even screamed the players' names. According to Soobin, this was their sixth win against the other university, as last year they got some really good young players like Beomgyu.
And speaking of the devil, Beomgyu was now running towards Soobin with open arms and the taller quickly embraced him in a big sweaty hug. Taehyun cringed when he saw Beomgyu's clothes covered in sweat, but Soobin didn't seem to care as he amusingly talked to his friend.
"You scored twenty points and had a few assists. I'm so proud of you!" Soobin hugged him tightly "The other team was so pissed at you I swear at least two of them gave you the middle finger when you weren't looking. I'm so proud!"
