"Where did I leave them...?"
Taehyun mumbled while looking under the couch, hoping to find his precious yellow vans that he had somehow lost. Anyone who looked at them would think they were just some ordinary old shoes not worthy of his time, but they meant a lot to Taehyun, not only because he was obsessed with that shade of yellow, but because he bought them at a difficult time in his life and it was almost impossible for someone like Taehyun to not get attached to things that have been with him through his worst days. It was no secret that those vans were his favorite thing in his wardrobe, everybody knew about the special treatment he gave them, like isolating them from his other shoes and cleaning them almost every day. So it was a shame he lost them out of a sudden.
He had worn them the day before and placing them in the corner of his wardrobe after using them was practically routine at this point, so it was very strange he didn't remember where he left them. However, knowing for a fact how crazy and forgetful the human mind can be sometimes, Taehyun just accepts that today he's living one of those days where he gets this sudden amnesia and doesn't remember where things are. Usually, his mom would take the lead and would find it in under 2 minutes. But unfortunately, his mom wasn't here to save the day so the only option was to ask one of his housemates for help.
"Yeonjun!" Taehyun calls as soon as he finds his friend comfortably laying on the sofa watching some new program about exotic animals on the TV. "Did you see my vans? I think I lost them..."
At first, Yeonjun seems too focused on what's on the TV to process any of Taehyun's words. However, when he hears the word vans being mentioned, he turns his head almost immediately to make eye contact with Taehyun, a look of fear covering his face.
"What color are they?" The brunette asks carefully.
"Yellow."
Yeonjun's change of behavior was enough for Taehyun to realize that something bad happened. The younger followed his friend's gaze to the corner of the living room, near the tall bookshelf that Soobin uses to keep all his book collections, and what he saw left him speechless: his once beautiful shoes, now completely unrecognizable. They were covered by a thick substance similar to mud and there were deep scratches made by a sharp object, that Taehyun later found out to have been a knife. The blonde boy takes a deep breath, trying to assimilate everything.
"He didn't do it on purpose..." Yeonjun tries to comfort the other with a little white lie, but it was already too late.
"BEOMGYU YOU SON OF A BITCH, THEY WERE MY FAVORITE SHOES HOW COULD YOU-"
Taehyun screams while running to Beomgyu's single room. When he gets his hand on the hold of the door, he doesn't hesitate to open it in the most dramatic way possible, not caring if the older was doing something that required privacy. When Taehyun sees Beomgyu (thankfully) dressed, with a book in his hands and stupid glasses on his face, his first instinct is to run towards him and throw a punch in his face. However, Yeonjun, who had been running after the younger the entire time, catches him in his arms making it difficult for Taehyun to take another step.
"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" He screams, facing Beomgyu.
"Taehyun, shhhh, it's okay... "
"HOW IS IT OKAY WHEN HE-"
Yeonjun takes a deep tired breath and grabs Taehyun's angry face in his hands, forcing him to make eye contact. "It's alright. I'll buy you new ones, how does that sound?"
"Vans...?" Taehyun asks after a while with the softest voice.
"Whatever brand you want."
It takes Taehyun a few seconds to compose himself and look away from Beomgyu's figure, his anger now much more controlled than before. He shows Yeonjun his pinky to seal the promise and watches as his mouth transforms into a pout.
"You have to take it."
Yeonjun sadly squeezes Taehyun's finger but furrows his brow when he feels someone's cold stare on his back. Turning around, he notices Beomgyu watching him with his typical blunt face, however, it was slightly different this time. He seemed betrayed as if his fights with Taehyun were all part of a game and Yeonjun had picked the blonde's side instead of his. Realizing they were still in Beomgyu's room and conscious of the heavy atmosphere suffocating them, Yeonjun takes Taehyun to the living room, far away from Beomgyu's room.
"And there goes my savings..."
