"JAKE'S PARTY IS TOMORROW, I'M SO EXCITED!"

Today was a great day as it was a holiday and university students could rest for a little bit after the long stressful week of exams. But most importantly, it was the day before the grand party that everyone's been waiting for. Most people, like Huening Kai, were happy and excited about the event, waiting patiently for tomorrow to arrive. But others weren't having it, showing their grumpy side and discontented noises to anyone that radiated the minimum sign of happiness.

"Yeay, Uppy!" Soobin says uninterestedly, and Kai raises his eyebrow in his friend's direction, definitely taken back by his bad mood.

"Stop being sarcastic and admit that this is going to be the best party ever—"

"Yeah yeah, sure." Soobin cuts him off, his attention back on his cellphone.

"What the hell is wrong with him?"

Kai asks out loud, looking at Beomgyu and Taehyun for answers. The two boys were chilling on opposite sides of the same sofa, as far away as they could from each other. Beomgyu was reading one of his books and Taehyun was scrolling on some random Instagram page, but both of them were paying attention to the situation happening in front of them.

"I don't know. He's been like this since this morning..." Taehyun states, his eyes never leaving his phone. "Maybe you should ask Yeonjun..."

"What's Yeonjun got to do with this?" Kai asks and the minute those words are spoken, Yeonjun makes his way inside the room, like an actor from a theater play that had a specific timing to show up.

"Hi guys!" The oldest greets everyone but when his eyes meet Soobin's unhappy face and his deadly stare, he turns his back and starts walking back to his room "Bye guys!"

The remaining three boys watch the scene in confusion but only Huening Kai has the courage to face Soobin.

"What the hell happened between you two?"

"Why the hell do you care?" Soobin asks almost in an automatic tone, his empty eyes glued to his phone.

"I don't like that attitude—"

"Sucks to be you then."

Huening Kai opens his mouth in a perfect O and his hand makes its way to his chest, showing how surprised he was by Soobin's choice of words.

"Soobin you can't be here ruining the mood with your grumpy attitude and then not tell me what's wrong!" He says, frustrated.

"Okay, bye then."

Those are the last words Soobin says before making his way out of the dorm, showing zero interest in his surroundings as his eyes didn't leave his phone for one second. Huening Kai stays stunned in place for a few moments but when he gets his senses back he follows Soobin's steps and chases him, hoping his friend would give him a plausible explanation for his behavior.

"Do you know what's wrong with him?" Taehyun asks while his fingers moved fast on his phone's keyboard.

"Are you texting Eunwoo?"

Taehyun stops what he's doing and narrows his eyes in Beomgyu's direction, a disgusted expression starting to form on his face.

"May I ask what that has to do with my question?"

"Is he going to be at the party?"

Taehyun cringes and looks at the older, searching for signs of seriousness in his face. But all he sees is his typical blank expression while his eyes follow a random sentence in his book. It was like Taehyun wasn't important enough for him to be looking at his face while talking. And on top of that, he was asking the weirdest questions with a straight face, with no signs of curiosity or genuine interest in his voice. Why is he so difficult to read?

"Yes, he is going. And why the hell would you want to know if he's going. Are you going?"

"Probably." He answers bluntly and Taehyun groans in frustration.

"Do you see what the problem here is?" Taehyun points his index finger at Beomgyu's face but the older doesn't flinch, instead, his eyes fall back on the book as he wasn't brave enough to look at Taehyun at the moment. "You're the problem. I asked you a simple question and you destroyed our peace immediately. I can't have a normal conversation with you even if I tried to because you always find a way to ruin it! Everything that comes out of your mouth is crap. Why do you care if I'm texting Eunwoo? Don't you have better things to do?"

"It's because he wants to hurt you—"

"You're the one who wants to hurt me!" Taehyun almost screams and Beomgyu instantly closes his mouth "We've been making each other's lives miserable for a year now. Do you think I believe you when you say Eunwoo is a bad guy? You never wanted the best for me, so how would I believe in the statements of a guy who clearly likes to see me suffer? The fact that you bothered to tell me all those lies just confirms my theory that you want me away from him because he could make me happy."

Taehyun takes a deep breath and Beomgyu stays quiet the entire time.

"You're a nuisance. You've always been. I can't believe I just now tried to have a normal conversation with you..." Taehyun sees Beomgyu spacing out and groans "And I can't believe you're not even listening to me! Goodbye Beomgyu."

And Beomgyu watches out of the corner of his eye as Taehyun gets up from the sofa and storms to his room, leaving a trace of heavy invisible steps marked on the floor. The ravenette boy just stays still in his place, his mind interiorizing every word, but he doesn't have that much time to think further because he hears someone clearing their throat in the distance.

"Hi... I was gonna ask if Soobin was still here and I unintentionally heard everything... Do you want a hug?" Yeonjun asks, his head peeking through the door.

Beomgyu takes a deep breath and sends a scary glare in Yeonjun's direction. The older curses under his breath. They're awfully alike when they're mad. I guess that's why Beomgyu and Soobin are best friends after all. With a nervous laugh, Yeonjun murmurs a little 'Sorry, bye!' and runs to his room, leaving a very thoughtful Beomgyu behind.
