Kaylie was seated in Marco's waiting for Dana. She had arrived a few minutes ago and was disappointed when she discovered that Nina wasn't in just like she hadn't been for a couple days. She'd asked the other guy, Ricardo if she was ok and all he knew was she and Gina, the older woman she was also familiar with, had taken some time off work.
"Hey." Dana smiled as she slid into the chair opposite from her.
"Hey." Kaylie smiled at her. "Sorry for calling so suddenly."
"I'm glad you did." Dana said. "I was getting tired of being cramped up in that house. I need this as much as you do."
Kaylie sighed; glad she hadn't disturbed her.
"So, tell me again what's this for?"
"Well, I need you to be my test subject."
"Like a lab-rat?"
"Oh, no!"
Dana laughed.
"I was messing with you."Kaylie chuckled at that, relieved.
"Well, we have the presentation tomorrow and I need you to be the first one to try the software. I just need to be sure it's accurate, if not, I have now till tomorrow to fix it if it isn't.""Alright." Dana said. "What do I do?"
"I'll send you the app and talk you through the rest."
Dana gave her phone to Kaylie to transfer the app and soon she was opening an account on the Ground Upp.
"What's with the name?""The name of the company is Ground Up and I didn't want to name the app Ground Up App and I figured since Up and App are pronounced the same way, it should be a single word."
Dana laughed.
"Hey, I'm a software developer, doesn't mean I have to be a genius with coming up with names."
"It does make sense." Dana said finally.
"Thank you." Kaylie said. "Now you just submit your information and wait for a second. There, now answer the question."
"What services do require from Ground Up? Construction or Interior designing." Dana read then clicked on the Construction option.
"Do you have an idea of what you want? Yes or No." Dana clicked on no and as soon as she clicked on it, a few options of buildings popped out.
"Now, you just need to filter out what exactly you're looking for and viola."
"Oh wow." Dana said as she scrolled through the buildings. "I kind of love all of them, asides the skyscrapers."
"Those are options for business men and women looking for new company buildings."
"Well they definitely look like something I'd go for if I was a business woman." Dana stopped scrolling and just stared at her phone.
"What?" Kaylie asked.
"This building." Dana touched the building that had caught her attention.
"That's actually really nice for a typical company building."
"It is."
Kaylie smiled at Dana who seemed to be more interested in the building than the other houses that had caught her attention before. After she snapped out of her reverie, she scrolled through some more.
The spent quite a while on the app, Kaylie wanted to be sure that every aspect of the app worked just fine. She was back in the office way after lunch and she got to her cubicle and fell in her seat.
"Where were you?" Will popped his head between their cubicles.
"I had to meet with someone regarding the app."
"Well you sure took your time." Will said. "Carly was here."
Kaylie turned in her seat to look at him.
"Why was Carly here?""The boss was requested for you."
"And you didn't call me?" She was surprised.
"I wanted to but Sebastian told me not to worry that it wasn't of great importance."
"Why would you listen to Sebastian?" She asked.
"Because he's the reason Mr. Reed needed you."
She waited for him to continue.
"Well don't hold back on me now.""Oh right." Will said. "Sebastian decided to hold his presentation today."
"His presentation...today. Are you shitting me?"
"No. He's with the boss right now giving his presentation."
Kaylie snapped up from her seat and took her things.
"I'm supposed to be in that meeting.""Better hurry up."
Kaylie couldn't make it to the top floor fast enough and when she did, she stumbled out of the elevator. Rushing, she picked up her things and went to Carly's desk.
"Hey, I'm sorry I'm late. Where's it happening?""It's already happened."
Kaylie turned around to see Sebastian and Mr. Reed walking towards her from one of the meeting rooms.
"I'm so very sorry Mr. Reed, I was out to test my software.""Yes, your neighbour, hmm, Will mentioned something of that sort."
"I don't understand why the presentation was shifted." She said.
"Sebastian was excited to show me what he'd come up with and I have to say Ms. Patterson, you'll need to up your game, whatever it is you've got in store for me tomorrow because his work was flawless."
Kaylie smiled.
"I'm sure it was but I'm confident in my software.""Good to hear that Ms. Patterson." Richard said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a conference call to join."
Richard walked away and left her with Sebastian.
"What are you up to?" She asked.
Sebastian's stoic expression made her wonder, he was never so serious.
"I don't know what you're talking about.""C'mon Sebastian, cut the crap with me. I know you're up to something, with that unsmiling face and the shift in the D-day."
Sebastian shrugged.
"Richard loved my presentation and the app, good luck to you Kaylie.""You can't get away from me that easily." She followed him.
"Watch me." He said. "Whatever happens, know that you started it."
She frowned.
"Started what?"He looked at her.
"You were trying to get in Alexander Guzman's good books and I caught you.""Mr. Guzman is just a client and that's it."
"Didn't seem that way from the way you two were getting last week."
Kaylie frowned as Sebastian stepped into the elevator leaving her to wonder what just happened and what the hell he was talking about. He might have caught on to something between them and she couldn't say he wasn't telling the truth. But she wasn't that way with Alex because of the rivalry between them.
She sighed. Now he made her wonder if her presentation would go as well tomorrow with Mr. Reed as his went.
