It's been quite a while. I haven't practiced any songs since Christmas. Heck, I haven't practiced anything since Christmas.

But I have started working on my strumming skills. Apparently proper strumming is just as important as proper left hand positioning. It's hard getting my wrist to go loose while keeping my elbow still though, but I'm working on it. It's recommended to watch videos of your favorite musician playing and paying close attention to their hand movements. I haven't done that just yet, but I need to eventually.

I did finally start working on tuning my guitar today. It's not as scary as everyone makes it out to be, but it is hard at first. Thankfully I have my CD to help me, and I nailed that first string perfectly! The third string made some scary sounds, but once I was confident it wasn't going to break, I got it tuned pretty close.

That's my biggest fear when it comes to my guitar at the moment, a string breaking and hitting me in the eye. I'm not sure how much of a chance that has of happening, but the way I hold my guitar sometimes probably increases that chance. I need to work more on proper sitting and guitar holding position too. I should probably write this stuff down . . .
