Third Persons Narrative:
Ajinke is walking away from the prince's room with the kiss she just shared with the prince, replaying in her mind, when the queen's voice stops her.
"Ajinke. "The queen calls and Ajinke turns to look at the flawless queen.
"Your highness, "Ajinke says in respect as she bows to the queen, and the queen pulls her into a hug.
"My dear, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen. Please forgive me. "The queen begs, but Ajinke whimpers in pain as her body is still hurting.
The queen quickly lets go of her in concern, and Ajinke smiles at her.
"My queen, it's okay. We all know what happened. You were under a spell. "Ajinke replies and the queen shakes her head in disagreement.
"Even at that, I shouldn't have treated you like I did. You've been such a good girl, and I... I out you so much pain. "The queen replies in guilt, and Ajinke smiles.
"My queen, you were under a spell... "Ajinke begins, but the queen cuts her off.
"And I'm still sorry. I shouldn't have put myself in a position where I could be charmed to do evil against you. I stained your name and put you through so much pain. "The queen replies and Ajinke gives a bitter smile.
"My queen, my name has been stained, right from birth, and pain has been a dark shadow that has been following me for a very long time.
Coming to work in this palace has been the best thing that has happened to me. Your family gave me a new chance at life. "Ajinke replies and the queen smiles as she begins to feel happy.
"I admit, Adebiyi did do a good thing but bringing you here. He also did another good thing by choosing you as his bride. I guess you were always meant to be his queen. We all love you in the family, and I can't wait to welcome you as my daughter-in-law. I can only hope the goddess will choose you for him. "The queen says, and Ajinke blushes as she remembers what transpired between her and the prince not too long ago.
"Dear, please accept to marry my son. It will help me feel better, and make me believe that the evil done to you has been averted as you will be queen and everyone will forget the ill names I called you. "The queen says, and Ajinke makes to speak.
"Please, dear... Accept this marriage. "The queen begs further, and Ajinke gulps.
"Will you? "The queen questions and Ajinke stays frozen for a few seconds, before finally nodding.
"Yes, my queen. "Ajinke replies and the queen smiles before pulling Ajinke into another hug.
I rush into the maid's quarters and begin to fill Asake in on all that happened with no breaks. I was expecting her to feel excited for me. To feel as elated as I was feeling, but she simply gave me a blank look. I honestly can't tell why I'm so happy or when the prince's attention became something that made me happy, but I was happy and I knew. I thought my friend would share in my happiness, but she looked unbothered by it even indifferent.
"Asake. You won't say anything? "I question, and Asake looks up at me.
"Ajinke, what do you want me to say? "She questions in a low voice, and confusion hits me.
"All of a sudden, the prince said all these things to you and you're happy? Ajinke, think now. What makes you sure that this isn't all an act? Are you sure he really cares? Are you sure he is not just doing this to liberate the queen from the evil she did to you?
Besides, when did all this his feeling start? Did you ask him? Did he even say he loves you? Men could be demonic hope you know that? Don't get your hopes too high and he'd go and crush them later on. "She adds, and I gulp as I stare at her.
She suddenly turns away from me and tears begin to fall from her eyes.
"Asake, are you alright? What happened? "I question in worry as I rush closer to her and turn her to me.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have spoken like that. I should be happy for you but... Makinde broke up with me."She cries, and my heart falls. Makinde is her boyfriend.
She's been dating him for about nine months, and her relationship with him was of the best things she had. I could tell by how her face lit up whenever she saw him, or we spoke about him.
She's a royal maid, and he's a royal guard. Their relationship seemed smooth and blissful. So what could have happened?
"Why, what happened? "I question in concern, and she breaks into tears.
"His younger brother came to tell me that he has another girlfriend. I went to him to confront him, and he told me that it was true. He has been dating her for three months now. He said he never planned bro tell me about his new girlfriend because he knew I loved him and he didn't want to hurt me. He said he cared about me, but he knew our relationship was lacking something. So, he... He went and chose another girl that felt perfect. "Asake explains, a d my heart crack in hurt for her.
How could he do that to her?
"I'm sorry I said such things about the prince. I should be happy for you. It just... I just... What if he hurts you? "She cries, and my heart thuds.
What if she's right? What if the prince just did all those things to save face. Come to think of it. He never really said he loves me. He was careful with his words. Besides, what will a prince see in a common girl like me?
What if... What if I'm also being played? I'm getting excited like an idiot. This marriage I promised the queen to accept... What if it's a trap that will bring me unending sorrow? I deed, when did the prince's so-called feelings start for me? And I had already gone to kiss the prince like a shameless fool.
What do I do now?
What is this marriage going to bring me?Dear readers, I can't say sorry enough for my late and then short update. The truth is that I'm working on a project with another app. So it's taking up a lot of my time.
