"see, was waking up early really that bad?" amelia questioned sipping her ice latte, "i guess not, but if anyone else were to ask i wouldn't" i give in and she smiled. "you have any classes today?" she asked, "not today! you?" i continue the small talk, "me either, i finished with my anatomy lab homework now, did you wanna hang out?" and i was truely stunned she still wanted to spend time with me, given our differences and how much time we had been spending together. "sure, i'd be down" i reply and she smiled excitedly, "perfect, actually ryland, nick, nai and jack were planning to go to the campus games room! let me text the chat and let them know you are coming" she exclaims as she goes to grab her phone. so it was not a one on one thing, and it is with that nick guy, the guy that flirts with anyone with a beating pulse. i mean at least i have jack right, i sigh into my seat.

we both walk in conversation towards the games centre where we were meeting the others. "hey meli! over here" a tall dirty blonde called out, "hey ry! this is is vinnie" she introduces, "hey ryland" he nods and nick looks over, "nick" and i just nodded, "we've met" i say bluntly and he nods. "hey, i am nailea or nai" the brunette standing by jack introduces. amelia was in conversation with ryland and nick, whilst i was just standing with jack and nai, jack seemed busy on his phone for whatever reason so i make small talk with nai. "so where you from?" i ask and she turns to face me, "seattle, how bout you?" and my eyes widen, oh my god someone from seattle, "me too! i am so glad i met someone from home" i say comfortably and she blushes, and we continue to get to know each other as everyone falls into conversation. nailea was nice and she was very pretty, we were quite similar in the fact we both were shy and reserved compared to our counterparts jack and amelia. i could tell we would get along just fine.

the rest of the time at the games centre, amelia was preoccupied by nick, mainly because nick barely let me get a word in. you could see he was territorial towards amelia and wanted to show me. we were friends he had nothing to worry about, plus i don't even think amelia thinks of us like that anyways. jack had to leave for his teaching extracurricular class, leaving me with nailea, amelia, nick and ryland. i could see nick wasn't going to stop talking anytime soon so i asked nailea if she wanted to get out of there to grab food from the cafeteria with me and she agreed so we left the centre as well. not without saying goodbye to the three, amelia gave nai a hug goodbye and she was going to hug me goodbye before nick once again stole her attention away before she could properly give me a hug. i sigh in response, he was not going to back down and i was not either . he's treating her like she's some prize to win, she's a person and i won't stoop to his level to make her any less than a human.

"nick's pretty intense hey?" nai teases and i laugh with her, "yeah, he treats her like she's not a person and a prize to win. like we are just friends and i am no threat to him" i complain and she agrees nodding her head. "poor meli, but she likes him i think and they'd probably end up together. they are basically made for one another, cheer captain and basketball captain, pretty cliche hey?" she rambles and i was not too happy with her opinion, she reckons they'd fall into that highschool trope of quarterback and cheerleader duo, but she was wrong. but i happily agreed anyways not wanting to admit my feelings or my envy to someone i had just met. something i will save for the boys. speaking of the boys i decided to text them as nailea and i were waiting on our food.

"uh sorry nai, it was nice meeting you. i actually got to go the guys and i are hanging out tonight" i say trying to excuse myself, and she gave me a hug goodbye not before she asked for my number, which i felt obliged to give her. "see you round vin" and i smiled and left the cafeteria. jack could not be right, could he?
