By now I'm in my bedroom with all the clothes we shopped for beside me. I'm waiting for Mariana to get out of the shower to help her get ready for what she thinks is her anniversary dinner. All while I left a very tall green eyed man on my living room couch. By now it's seven and we had been everywhere we intended to go and when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere. We went to two salons and at least five stores. We stopped for coffee once or twice, and even went to the mall all while Aiden followed us around. Don't get me wrong he wasn't thrilled to be following us around but he never complained once. While we were at the salon I started feeling bad, I didn't get anything done I didn't need to but we were waiting for Mariana while she chatted away with the woman who was doing her nails.
"You know you can leave if you want to, you've already done enough. I'll just call a car for us." I told him while he was on his phone.
"I'm good." was the only thing he responded.
"Really you can leave, I was bullshitting you saying you needed to drive us everywhere today." When I said it I meant it and I still don't regret saying it but he suffered his penance so he can leave.
"It's fine."
"Good so you are leaving, I'll see you tomorrow at the office."
"I'll stay." Christ, this man is stubborn.
"You don't have to feel bad, just leave and we'll forget this ever happened."
"I don't feel bad and will you stop urging me to leave." He says looking away from his phone and finally at me.
That was where that conversation ended but I still kept fighting the urge to remind him he could leave if he wanted to or if he was busy but the only thing he did was give me a heavy glare. So, eventually I dropped it while Mariana and I shopped. I got a few things while we were there, I couldn't let her get suspicious and god did I hear enough about Mariana's assumptions of me and Aiden.
"He is just a lawyer, he is nothing" she started mocking me. "my ass. You've had lunch with him all week and you have this tension in the air that I need a pair of scissors." I just gave her a flat stare before we each went into the dressing room.
"You're seriously over reacting, there's nothing in the air. And can we discuss this later? He is literally outside." I said looking at myself in the mirror at the set I had on. It was a beautiful emerald column skirt with silver details at the waistline and a cropped top with silver straps and completely backless.
"No, why didn't you tell me about this?" She said, opening my curtain and coming inside.
"Because there's nothing to tell." I told her giving her the eye. "I think I'm taking this, what do you think?"
"Damn, you're hot, that fits you fabulously."
"Ok then it's going with me, did you find something for tonight?" I asked, taking the set off and putting my clothes back on. I really don't care if Mariana is here while I change, but we really need to find her a dress or something for her engagement. That was the whole point of coming here.
"No, but I'm buying a few things. And don't change the subject, ok? What's happening between Mr. Lawyer and you? I can feel something is going on."
"Nothing, I literally met him last week. And we've just had a couple lunches, that's it. He is our lawyer Mariana, nothing else."
That seemed to shut her up but I knew she still hadn't dropped it and I would hear about it again. After that we paid and left the store and went into a few more until we found the perfect dress for Mariana. An amazing white maxi dress with little blue flowers and a slit along the thigh that fit her like a glove, it looked perfect on her. I knew Mark was going to love it and if he didnt to hell with him. Oh- right I need to update Mark.
