Lidia was in today but we still decided to go to the coffee shop with Mariana. We wanted to see how Angela was doing with the baby. Well, it turned out they wanted to talk to me about something and wanted to see if we could grab lunch. And I didn't have the heart to tell them that I was busy at lunch. So now I'm stuck on what to do, actually I know what I need to do. But, if yesterday didn't make me look like a bitch today definitely will.
I grab my purse and take out the cardholder I have there, taking the card Mr.Black's assistant gave me the day I went to his office.
I type the number that is in it on my phone and send out a message.
Me: Hey, do you mind rescheduling lunch? Something came up.
A few minutes pass and I start assuming that he doesn't have that phone number when a text comes through.
(917)-749-644: Valentina?
Me: It's me.
(917)-749-644: How do you have my work phone number?
(917)-749-644: You know what, don't answer that. I'll go to your office.
This is exactly what I wanted to avoid. I would look less like a bitch if we didn't make a big deal out of this and now that he's coming up to my office I know for a fact I know we'll make a big deal out of this, somehow we always do. Ughh, this is stressful. I've never tried not to be a bitch, but I have to remember that this is for the sake of company.
"What do you mean rescheduling lunch?" Here we go.
"I mean talking about the case, when it isn't lunch time." I say standing up from my desk. "And did no one ever teach you how to knock." That makes him roll his eyes.
"No."
"No, what?" I ask, unclear what his no is regarding.
"No, we're not rescheduling." Fuck, not being a bitch. This dude is getting on my nerves again.
"I wasn't asking as much. I was saying that we would meet later to talk about the case, maybe three or four, whenever else really."
"No."
"I can't do it right now, Aiden. So for the love of god let's do it later." I'm trying to be as nice as possible, but with his stubbornness this is not easy.
"You know what it's fine. Let's just not bother talking about the case today, I'll bring you up to speed tomorrow before court. I'll handle the rest." What?!? Is he insane?!? The moment I'm about to disagree there is a knock at my door. Finally someone knocks at my door.
"Oh, sorry I didn't know you were busy." I hear Sam say and both Aiden and I turn to look at him. "Alice wasn't at her desk, so I didn't know if I should come in" I shouldn't have frosted the windows panels, this is what I get for wanting to have privacy today.
"No, it's fine." I tell Sam with a smile. I turn my eyes to Aiden and he has a frown on his face.
"You go ahead to the elevator, let me just grab my purse." Sam nods, and walks out. I walk towards my desk and take my purse, phone and card holder that was still out.
"Let's do it later, ok?" I tell Aiden and drop my card holder and phone in my purse. When I look up, he still has a frown on his face.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"What? Tell me."
"You smiled at him." He says while his jaw sets. What does that have to do with anything?
"I don't want to argue with you anymore.Just come by later at any time." I say opening the door for the both of us to walk out. He steps out but remains still besides Alice's desk, while I walk down the hallway towards the elevator where Sam is waiting.
