It didn't surprise either of them that Loki wound up coming inside after driving her home, it had almost seemed like an unspoken agreement as she unlocked her front door and stepped inside with him trailing behind her.
She didn't stop to give him a look or say goodbye, she merely set down her bag and shrugged off her jacket to hang it up on the banister at the bottom of the stairs.
He followed suit and then they both walked to the living room, him sitting down and her walking directly to the kitchen after fishing out her bought goods from her bag.
Before either of them knew it, forty minutes had passed and they were sat together with warm cups of tea, baked goods and a movie playing on the TV in the corner.
It had all naturally gravitated that way and they were both happy in mutual comfort to let whatever would happen occur.
She had settled into the corner of her couch after loading the movie and Loki sat somewhere between the other corner and the centre of the same seat, one hand holding onto his mug and the other coming to rest on her ankle once she'd pulled her legs up into the limited space between them.
He'd never seen the movie before and he wasn't paying any particular attention to it, he instead found that his mind focused on the calm atmosphere they'd found themselves in, which was apparently becoming a regular occurrence.
Their growing relationship was becoming a comfort to him and it had only been a couple of days, he already found himself hoping that it would continue once his forced time off was over.
It had been a long time since he'd felt this compelled to spend time with someone and he hoped it wasn't just a temporary phase to distract him from work.
He hadn't noticed that his thumb had been rubbing back and forth across her ankle until she had to shift position and he became aware of what he was doing.
His sudden pulling back of his hand drew her attention to it and she smiled slyly, her eyebrow quirking for a brief second.
"How are you enjoying the movie?" She asked before taking a sip of her drink.
He knew that she knew that he wasn't paying attention, that coy look on her face gave it away, but that didn't stop him slipping into old habits and lying with a casual;
"It's quite good, yes."
"Mhmm," she chuckled, "I bet you didn't even know we were watching The Lost Boys."
"I absolutely did," Loki nodded, unable to contain a smirk of amusement. "I was fully aware and absolutely loving it."
"Really? This is one of the best vampire movies out there, I love it," she grinned, looking to Loki, letting the lie slide for genuine happiness in sharing something she enjoyed.
"It's a little tame to my tastes, perhaps because I'm accustomed to more extreme realities."
"You have vampires on Asgard?"
"Not quite, we have the draugr, which has become a base term for the undead kind who roam."
"Like zombies," she suggested.
"Yes, though it was a term originally meaning ghost, it has adapted from there."
As Loki continued to explain the history of the word draugr and the beings that constituted to its meaning over time, she reached over to pause the movie so that her attention could be on him one hundred percent.
She was utterly enraptured already, her love of what Midgardian's classed as mythology shining through as she listened intently, her expression and eyes full of genuine interest as she was once again hooked on his every word.
Just as he had while they were eating dinner together, Loki mused that he could get used this.
"You know," she said after he'd finished and she was done taking a sip of her drink, "I would love to read a book of things like this by you," she smiled.
"On what? Our take on your creatures?"
"Honestly? Pretty much anything, but definitely that."
Loki chuckled, trying to hide a fluster that sprung up from the compliment, he couldn't let her see that her interest in him made him feel uncharacteristically light and giddy.
It had been a long time since he'd felt that way and he wanted to silently cherish it.
"Then perhaps I'll see what I can arrange."
She laughed and adjusted her cup to take another sip, only to have the mug slip in her fingers and dip just enough for a good slosh of her drink to soak a patch onto her jeans before she managed to right it again.
"Ah! Shit!" She yelled, hastily half leaning and half jumping forward to put her cup down while standing up to assess the damage and wipe her fingers dry. "Damn it, they're going to get all sticky now."
With no hesitation, she started to push the fabric down her thighs, unabashedly wiggling her hips in a way that Loki couldn't tell between purposeful or habit, though he supposed that it shouldn't be much of a shock that she didn't mind stripping in front of him given the night that kicked off their strange relationship.
She was certainly more confident now than she had been that night.
His eyes were glued to her as she moved and he wanted to grab onto her thighs and pull her onto his lap, the thought already making its way down from one head to another.
Loki's eyes were still trained on her as she bent over to pick up her discarded jeans, when she stood up again, she twisted to look over her shoulder and opened her mouth to speak, only to pause, wait for a moment and then smirk coyly.
"Well, I was about to go and change but I think someone is enjoying the view too much."
Loki chuckled and shook his head, looking up at her.
"You have caught me, I cannot deny that I was enjoying myself."
"Almost as much as I enjoy being bare-legged, it seems."
"So, you spilled your drink on purpose not to give me a show, but to have a reason to strip for comfort?"
"Damn you caught me, is that a problem?" She asked, raising her eyebrows playfully as she turned towards him fully.
"Maybe," he chuckled, letting his eyes roam over her. "Though you could easily make it up to me."
Her eyes drifted down to the packets on his left, some empty and other still full after he'd realised that his goal of bakery trying had been ruined for the day thanks to their meal earlier.
"With tarts?"
"That's no way to speak about yourself," he smirked.
She stepped forward and Loki pushed the packets towards the corner of the chair, giving her room to place her knees on either side of him as she straddled his thighs without the threat of squishing the coveted pastries.
He placed his hands on her hips and she set hers on his shoulders as she balanced herself, another silent mutual understanding of what was happening passing between them, Kiefer Sutherland's vampiric character sneering at them from the TV like a paranormal peeping-Tom.
She loomed over his, her eyes hooded with clear intention as he looked up at her, enjoying the change of perspective as his fingers dug into her hips tighter than he had intended to.
Wordlessly, they both leaned in at the same time, lips capturing one another and sealing the night's events with a kiss.
