When we got to the party it was already in full swing. Aaron saw us arrive and came bouncing up to us.
"Alright?" He asked us both looking between us with worry evident on his face.
"It's alright mate." Joe clapped him on the back and went to see his team mates.
Aaron looked more relaxed now, "so was it true?" He asked me.
I wasn't sure if I should tell him, but then I'd already said to Aaron and he was Joe's best friend, "yes, but don't say anything to anyone."
"Course not." Aaron shook his head.
"You'll keep an eye on him while I'm away, won't you?" I asked, I wasn't sure Joe was as alright as he said he was.
"Don't worry, we've had each other's back for a long time." Aaron said as Joe came back over to us carrying three beers. He gave one to me and one to Aaron.
"Drinks." He grinned.
I looked at them unsure while the boys grinned at them, "are simon's parents not here?"
Joe shook his head and took a long swig from his beer. I knew he'd never drank before.
I started drinking my beer slowly. By the time Joe had drank three beers I wasn't even half way through mine.
"Don't you think you should slow down a little bit?" I asked him as he appeared with his fourth beer.
Just as I was saying this Simon walking past with a bottle of clear liquid held above his head shouting, "I've found vodka! Shots!"
Joe was off like a shot. I followed after him quickly.
"Joe! I really don't think that's a good idea."
Simon handed him a shot.
"Are you going to stop me?" Joe seemed to be challenging me.
"No, but.." I couldn't say anymore. He'd taken the shot.
Will you please slow down?" I asked.
He got close to me, "it's a party, Olivia. Lighten up."
I pushed him away and glared at him.
"I'm going to get another drink." He said to me.
"Do what you want." I stormed off to find Ethan, James and Aaron in the next room. They had all had a few beers too. I finished my beer with them, trying not to think of Joe.
I only drank one beer but it was my first beer ever. I didn't feel much but I could tell that I had drank something. Ethan and James were starting to get a bit drunk and me and Aaron were laughing watching them when Simon came and tapped me on the shoulder.
"Joe's being sick everywhere." He said.
"Where is he?" I followed him into the back garden where Joe was bent over still being sick. I started stroking his back and speaking comforting words to him softly so only he could hear.
"What should I do?" Simon asked. I looked up and saw both him and Aaron standing there looking helpless. I didn't really know but I said, "get him some water."
When Joe stopped being sick I helped him sit down on a step outside and handed him the water Aaron handed me.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled.
"It's alright." I said, "how much did you drink?"
He shrugged.
"He was trying to do a shot with everyone on the team." Simon told me.
