Chapter 3

"Hi, Ate! Is daddy up?" I was grinning widely as I asked.

I never thought I'd be able to sleep so well given the circumstance I experienced last night, but right after I got home, I was so drained that after I took a bath, I immediately slept. And now, I decided to wake up early because I wanted to cook something special for daddy (also, if ever ate decided to betray me, I can easily lift up his mood).

Kasama ko yung puppy bumaba. She's so sweet that I almost slipped when I saw her outside my bathroom door- staring at me with those big cute puppy eyes. I wanted to introduce snowy to daddy too. I hope he'll allow snowy to stay with us! Kahit man one day ko palang nakaka-sama si snowy, I feel so attached to it. I even let snowy sleep on my bed. Sadly, she peed on it the next day.

Ate sadly glanced at me as she shook her head. I already understand what her reaction means and it made my mood turned upside down in a snap.

As always, dad already left early for work. Recently, right after mom died, I rarely get to spend time with him. Unlike before, where we get to eat breakfast or dinner together or he'll always have time to wait for me before leaving, now things have changed- he's always busy working.

"Oh! I see," I sadly said. I still forced myself to smile to at least assure Ate that I'm okay even though I'm really not. It's really sad that I'm starting to get accustomed to the feeling of constantly getting disappointed.

"Is breakfast ready? It's my first day to school and I don't want to be late."

Snowy stayed close to me. She kept licking my legs causing me to look down. She looked at me with those cute eyes and I can't help but be drawn to her! She's so cute! At least, even if I'm sad with dad's lack of presence in my life. I have a new toy that would keep me occupied.

I leaned down to pick her up and placed her on the chair beside mine. Right after placing her, she immediately curled and sleep.

They already set up the table before I even got down so all they have to do is just serve the meals.

"Celia, have your dad told you?" Ate asked. Umupo siya sa tapat ko.

I stopped eating and stared at her. "Told me about what, Ate?"

"Pinapasamahan ka ng daddy mo sa akin. Pinapatingin din ng daddy mo if maganda environment ng eskwelahan papasukan mo. Dapat talaga daddy mo sasama sayo kaso busy siya sa trabaho kaya pinasuyo niya sa akin."

That 'busy siya sa trabaho' struck me. What's new? Lagi naman.

Napaayos ako ng upo sa sinabi ni ate. Napakunot ang noo ko. "Is that necessary, Ate?"

I never switched schools up till now. So I don't know much about things like this. But one thing I'm sure though, is that I don't want her to go with me. For pete's sake, I'm already in high school! I can handle myself.

"Oo, utos ng daddy mo 'yon," giit ni Ate.

In this household, Dad's words are final. No buts. No excuses.

"But ate, I'm already old. I assure you I can handle myself. Please don't come with me. If you want, I can help you lie to daddy," I pouted and batted my eyelashes.

Ate narrowed her eyes at me. "Talaga? Kaya mo sarili mo? Tas tatawag ka sa akin na nasa kulungan ka ulet?" she sarcastically said.

I sighed. Oh well, I do get her point though. Yesterday's event was far the worst. I know I'm naughty, childish and yes, pain in the ass, but I never went to jail those times.

I pent out a defeated sigh. "Okay, Ate. But promise me! You'll not be strict and meticulous! I want to have a normal high school life too!" I glared at her.
