We pulled away from each other, people cheering. "Jenna," he said. I looked at him, but said nothing, "Jenna," he said again. "No, I refuse to wake up from this dream, please." I said."Jenna, I was about to ask if I was dreaming." He laughed.
"No, no you're not."
"Really?"
"If you're not sure, we can do it again."
So we did, it was all the same.
"So, it worked." He laughed, "my idea worked."
"Oh, shut up," I said.
"I knew it would."
"Everett, you're pushing it."
"Right, sorry." But he kept laughing.
I laughed too.
"This feels too real," I said.
"You told me we weren't dreaming,"
"I know, but it is very too real."
"C'mon," Everett said, "let's go for a walk."
"A walk back in time? I want to go back to that moment."
"Let's just go for a walk Jen." He took my hand. "Is that really gonna be my pet name?" I asked.
"Why what's wrong with it?" He asked.
"Nothing, I like it."
We walked through the city, just Everett and I plus the buildings that looked like stars.
It was almost like we were back in that car.
