I was in the seat next to Everett on the plane, we were a couple now, at least I was guessing we were. We just kissed, those two times. I hadn't stopped thinking about two nights ago. "Everett?" I asked. "Yeah?""Are we gonna talk about New Years?"
"If you want, I thought it was a moment thing for you."
"No, no it wasn't."
"So we weren't just drinking and that happened."
"No! I remember it all, and you called me Jen."
"Oh, that's cringey."
"I know." I laughed.
I looked out the window, the ground looked so small. Everett and I were flying, I mean of course, we were in a plane. It just felt different between us.
"So, we are really, y'know?"
"Yeah, we are."
"So this whole Adam thing?"
"Everett, I was over that right when you left. I didn't think about Adam, all I thought about was you. Just you, only you. Every minute, second, milisecond."
"Wow," he said. "Missed me that much?" He laughed. "Yes, yes I did."
"I even ran into Adam," I said.
"You did?"
"Yeah, he gave me his number."
"That's like your dream come true." He said pondering into thought.
"It was, until I told him I was seeing someone else."
"Oh," Everett says, then he paused. "Who was this someone?"
"Well, he's very charming, and you know him very well."
"He sounds perfect, what does he look like?"
"Well, he's got this amazing blonde hair with the right amount of curls and these amazing green eyes that light up when they see me. He likes to read, hates when I drag him into karaoke. He really loves dogs, especially beagles."
"Oh, he sounds very familiar." Everett says leaning in.
"So, you know who he is?"
"Sure do." He kissed me on the cheek.
I thought back to Chris who we waved goodbye to in the airport, "goodbye lovebirds!" He had shouted. He really could read people, maybe I should've traveled to New York years ago.
Would've solved some problems faster, but oh well.
I was where I was supposed to be.
And I loved it.
