-------- NEW YEARS EVE ----------

Everett and I were eating at the hotel before we headed to the Times Square to countdown, "I can't believe I missed Christmas with my family," I said while we were eating. "You didn't have to." Everett said. "I had to find you though, so yes, yes I did."

"You just had to, did you?" Everett asked, I knew what he was leading into, but I wasn't ready for that conversation, just yet.

"I missed you, you're my best friend." Did I really want to change that?

"Right," he said.

Had I hurt him? Again? Why did this keep happening? Was I really chickening out? Now?I just had to wait, just a little bit longer.

"So, how was your trip? Did you get to every place you wanted to go?" I asked, trying to forget about the awkwardness I had created. "Pretty much," was all he said.

"I'm done eating now, are you ready to go to the square?" He asked after five minutes of eating in silence.

"Yeah, I am too." And I was.

We called a Taxi that met us outside a few minutes later and we joined the people ready for the countdown. "This is gonna be amazing," he said. I nodded, "so glad I get to watch this with you."

So, it begun with singers and more. Then, I noticed her, my favorite singer of all time, on stage. "Everett! Ohmygosh look!"

"Oh, she's here."

"I'm seeing her live!"

Her blonde hair swinging with her motion while she sang, sang lyrics Everett and I knew by heart. Her face, her eyes, red lipstick, iconic. She was real, she was really real.

"Wow," I said in awe.

After she was done her songs, it was time for the countdown.

The final countdown, the countdown of new years.

This one was going to be really different, I could tell.

"FIVE!"

"FOUR"

Everett had turned to me, as if he could read my mind in that very moment.

"THREE"

I wouldn't push him away anymore.

"TWO"

No, those days were done.

"ONE"

Over.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

And then, the world, it faded.

It went into slow motion, like it was supposed to.

I had kissed Everett first.

It was perfect, the way it was supposed to be.
